Is there a single person not looking for more health and happiness in their life? But instead of fostering these good feelings and outcomes, many of us are stressed, depressed, sleeping less, experiencing more negative thoughts and feeling isolated. If this sounds familiar, Laughter Yoga is for you.
Laughter Yoga, combining unconditional laughter with pranayama (yogic breathing), is a revolutionary idea sweeping the world. A complete workout and wellbeing exercise in one, Laughter Yoga was developed by Dr. Madan Kataria, an Indian Medical Doctor, and is practiced in more than 100 countries.
In this class, laughter is initially simulated as a physical exercise while attendees maintain eye contact with others in the group. In most cases this leads to real and contagious laughter. No yoga mats are needed – just be ready to laugh lively and find peace in 90 minutes
This class is hosted by Dana Kaplan, Yoga You Smile instructor, and is presented by the Winter Park Health Foundation.
About Dana Kaplan
Dana’s passion is to bring people together in love and joy. She practices and teaches several forms of yoga to create unity. Dana has been teaching Yoga in the Central Florida area for more than 10 years. Dana finds that her yoga mat is the easiest place to slow down the breath, calm the mind and tune in to the body. Her classes focus on the steady breath, alignment and on guiding students to a place of ease, acceptance and contentment.
Dana is also a Certified Laughter Yoga Teacher (CLYT). Laughter Yoga is a gentle form of exercise that is accessible to everybody. It is a fun and powerfully healing practice that releases stress, boosts the immune system and fosters a positive, loving and accepting mental attitude. Laughter Yoga connects us to our sense of childlike playfulness and inner joy. The first weekly Laughter Club that Dana started in 2010 is still going strong.
