Exercise is essential for good health and is even more important for people with arthritis. If you looking for a way to reduce pain and stiffness of the joints and keep bones and muscles healthy in your body, Tai Chi for arthritis can provide a gentle form of exercise involving a series of movements performed in a slow, focused way.
The Tai Chi for Arthritis program, designed by Dr. Paul Lam, is based on Sun-style Tai Chi. It has been shown to reduce inflammation, improve flexibility, reduce pain and promote a sense of wellbeing. It is easily adapted for all levels of ability. Join Crosby Wellness Center Tai Chi Instructor Dawn Marie for an introductory class to learn about this style of Tai Chi and how it can help your daily life with calm and renewed energy.
Tai Chi can:
- Lower your blood pressure and cholesterol,
- Improve your balance and reflexes through increased proprioception,
- Control your oxygen and carbon dioxide balance as well as your blood PH through breath work,
- Increase range of motion,
- Improve posture,
- And provide an overall sense of calm in your life.
Special Instructions: Equipment needed: Yoga Mat and comfortable clothing. Yoga blocks and towels will be provided.
This class is presented by Dawn Marzlock and hosted by the Winter Park Health Foundation.
