Holiday Community Education Programs at the Center for Health & Wellbeing

With the festive season in full swing and the new year in sight, our community education programs for 2022 are coming to an end. But don’t worry – we have a full sleigh of Community Education Programs scheduled for the last weeks of 2022. Mostly free and all open to the public, these programs promote the creation of healthy habits that support your health and wellbeing in a multitude of ways. From fitness programs and cooking classes to educational seminars with experts and arts workshops – there are so many programs to discover at the CHWB.

Below is a sneak peek of our upcoming programs for December.

Fit for the Holidays, December 6 from 11 AM – Noon: Join Crosby Wellness Center group fitness instructor Veronica Coral for a festive themed movement class involving total body muscles set to classic holiday music. This program will offer movement choreography that can be individually adapted to both moderate- and low-impact forms, and participants will choose whether they prefer the moderate- or low-impact version of the movement. Come equipped with your Santa hat and festive gear!

Simple Sides for your Holiday Meals, December 7 from 11 AM – 12:30 PM: Add a new side to your holiday feast with this simple sides cooking class. Allison Harrell, Registered Dietitian and Culinary Medicine Specialist, invites you into the CHWB Nutrition Theatre to show you how you can make simple sides for your holiday meals. These dishes are loaded with plant phytonutrients to support your health, are loaded with flavor, and are sure to become a family favorite.

Pilates Reformer Basics, December 8 from 11 AM – Noon: Are you looking to achieve core stability and good posture? Or increase your flexibility while building strength? In this program, led by Loren Weiland, an expert instructor at Crosby Wellness Center, you’ll learn the ins-and-outs of the Pilates reformer, a training machine that creates resistance to work every muscle in your body.

Holiday Pottery Painting, December 8 from 1:30 PM – 3 PM: Looking for the perfect homemade gift for your special someone? Create your own holiday themed pottery pieces and choose from ornaments, Santa dishes, menorah tiles, sleigh pitchers, and Hanukkah mugs. Let your creativity shine in this class.

Food and Fit for the Holidays, December 13 from 11 AM. – Noon: Food and Fit for the Holidays is a class designed to teach you about the building blocks of nutrition and the importance of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins. Plus, you’ll learn about the major muscle groups of the human body and exercises for each. Katelynn Swanson, a Crosby Wellness Center group fitness class instructor, will discuss how nutrition and fitness work together to benefit your body.

Holiday Throwback Tone-Up, December 14 from 7 PM – 8 PM: Get your body ready to rock around the Christmas tree with this fun fitness class set to your favorite holiday tunes. Join Aileen Suseck of Studio K for Throwback Tone-Up, a strength and toning class.
