Staying Active while Working Remotely

May 5, 2020/1 Comment/in Fitness /by Ailin Le Bellot

If working remotely full-time is new for you, you may be wondering how you can be active during this time. Staying active not only improves your health, but your productivity. Here are a few tips you can use today.

Turn on your favorite tunes.
Whether you want to dance, stand or take a moment to stretch, a music break is a fun way to stay active. It gives you the opportunity to take a break so that you aren’t seated for hours at a time.

Meal plan as if you’re at that office.
To avoid casually snacking throughout the day, plan your lunch and snacks and keep them in the kitchen. Take a lunch break just as you would at the office and keep your pre-planned meals in the fridge or pantry.

Get some fresh air.
Walking, biking or running outdoors, even for 10 minutes is a great way to be active during the day. Try to get out at least twice a week, while practicing social distancing.

Consider new options for your workspace.
If you can, move your desk by a window or an area that offers great lighting. This helps you avoid straining your eyes in a dark workspace. Desk lamps and brighter light bulbs can also brighten your work area. In addition, a standing desk helps you burn more calories than sitting.
