June is Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month — a great time to check in on our brain health. It turns out that only 1 percent of us have genes that directly cause Alzheimer’s disease. While 30 percent of us carry a gene that makes us more susceptible, research shows we have the power to prevent this disease by optimizing our diet and lifestyle!

In this class, Laura Varich, MD, a certified lifestyle medicine physician, will pave the path for brain health by demonstrating which foods and cooking methods are research proven to preserve brain health, while also creating brain-healthy recipes to sample, including: Grain & Lentil Salad with Fresh Herbs and Mixed Berry Crumble. You’ll also take home the recipes with you so you can start cooking up brain-healthy food yourself.

And while this class will mostly focus on diet, other lifestyle factors for brain health will be discussed.
