Do you keep hearing people talk about your microbiome … and you’re wondering what that means? We’re here to help! Scientific research is intensely focused on the microbiome and the critical role it plays in our health. Our microbiome consists of the tiny organisms found in our intestinal tract that are key to the prevention of inflammation and chronic conditions such as obesity, heart disease, diabetes, cancer, autoimmune disease, allergies, inflammatory bowel disease, and even depression.

The health of our microbiome is strongly influenced by diet, and it turns out that our Western diet is largely to blame for changing our healthy, protective microbiome into an unhealthy and disease-promoting microbiome.  Luckily, the current medical research shows us how we can bring our microbiome back to health. In this class, certified lifestyle medicine physician Laura Varich, MD, will provide practical, easy-to-apply tools for optimizing your microbiome. And you will even sample healthy, microbiome-boosting foods and beverages.

This program is presented by Laura Varich and is hosted by the Winter Park Health Foundation.
