Florida is home to many wild and wonderful places, but that land is quickly disappearing.

Florida is home to many wild and wonderful places, but that land is quickly disappearing. This summer, a bipartisan group of citizens, politicians, and activists helped to halt, for now, plans to add amenities such as hotels, golf courses, and pickleball courts to several state parks.  What can be done to protect our state’s wildlands for generations to come?

At this month’s IDEAS for Us Hive meeting, Sarah Gledhill, the Executive Director of the Florida Wildlife Federation will discuss the process of land acquisition, protecting conserved land, and the future of Florida’s natural environment.

The evening will also feature a discussion on the current status of Florida State Parks, key areas of concern and, of course, working with the public audience to develop proactive solutions.

As with every IDEAS for Us Hive session, there will be a breakout session to brainstorm ways to use these strategies to unite our community in environmental care.

This program is presented by IDEAS For Us and is hosted by the Winter Park Health Foundation.

About the Presenter:

IDEAS for Us is a grassroots environmental non-profit organization and accredited NGO of the United Nations. IDEAS creates global environmental solutions through local action related to energy, water, food, waste, and ecology. Its mission is to develop ideas, fund action, and also scale solutions to the world’s most pressing environmental challenges. During its Hive sessions, IDEAS For Us brings in experts on environmental topics and allows them to educate our audience, equipping them with the knowledge they need to make innovative solutions to climate change. They then engage the audience in a conversation about how to solve these issues with localized action.
