August 16 | 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM

Event Types :
Join Licensed Mental Health Counselor Jill Hamilton Buss for an evening of connection, fun, learning and laughter.

Humans are social animals; we need each other. Whether we’re in a relationship or living alone, we can become disconnected, which doesn’t just “feel bad,” it can have startling physical consequences, including an increased risk of heart disease, stroke and developing dementia for older adults. In fact, the risk for premature death of isolation and loneliness is comparable to smoking 15 cigarettes a day, according to a recent U.S. Surgeon General report.

Join Licensed Mental Health Counselor Jill Hamilton Buss for an evening of connection, fun, learning and laughter. You’ll learn and experience evidence-based strategies to build and strengthen relationships to improve your overall wellbeing — and you’ll get to laugh, too.

In this program, you will learn quick, effective ways to connect with your partner, child an/or others (some methods take less than one minute!), how “tear and repair” works and actually strengthens relationships (it’s okay to quarrel, fight or nag if you do this) and paradoxical interventions that bring you closer, helping to create and restore connections that may have frayed in stressful times.

This program is presented by Jill Hamilton Buss and is hosted by the Winter Park Health Foundation.
