Event Types :
Join herbalist and certified ACE health coach Julie Ward, to learn about the herbal properties of 10 herbs and spices.

Each one of us has been a bit under the weather at one time or another with a stuffy nose, an upset stomach, or sore throat. There are herbal at-home remedies that can alleviate most of these symptoms, and a few of them are likely already in your kitchen spice cabinet or refrigerator.

Led by herbalist, plant-based chef and certified ACE health coach Julie Ward, you will learn about the herbal properties of 10 herbs and spices that no herbal first aid kit should be without.

Julie will share some of her personal go-to remedies, including one she learned from her grandfather to alleviate a chill and tickle in his throat. His cure? He would simmer ginger, garlic, lemon and a little honey and go to bed early. She says he was good as new in the morning and it’s a remedy she still uses today herself.

Some of the items in your new at-home herbal first-aid kit can also be planted and grown at home. Is it time to start your own home first-aid garden? Julie will explain how.

This class will focus on cuts, scraps, bruises, coughs, minor digestive upsets, relaxation and congestion. Please bring a notebook and pen or pencil because there will be a lot to learn!

This program is presented by Julie Ward and is hosted by the Winter Park Health Foundation.
