Self-care is not selfish; it’s an essential part of our wellbeing. When we are well, the benefits extend far beyond ourselves. Unfortunately, we often realize how valuable self-care is when we are suffering with the consequences of overlooking self-care such as burnout, mental health problems, or relationship concerns. Spa days and vacations can be a part of self-care, but in reality, it is so much more. In honor of Self-Care September, we invite you to join us for this four-week workshop designed to help you dig deeply into self-care and learn actionable, research-based steps to prioritize your wellbeing.
The sessions will be led by Shainna Ali, Ph.D., a mental health counselor, educator, and advocate who is passionate about destigmatizing mental health counseling and helping individuals worldwide recognize the importance of fostering mental wellness. She is the host of the Mental Wellness Practice Podcast and author of The Self-Love Workbook, The Self-Love Workbook for Teens, Luna Finds Love Everywhere: A Self- Love Book for Kids, The Self-Love Planner, and Designing Healthy Boundaries. Dr. Shainna regularly offers commentary on self-care and mental wellness for outlets such as ABC, CBS, NPR, Washington Post, Insider, and Bustle.
This four-week series will cover the following topics:
Week 1: Defining self-care and understanding its place in stress, coping and wellbeing
Week 2: Using an integrated model of wellbeing to explore what self-care looks like for you
Week 3: Adaptive and maladaptive self-care/addressing obstacles and detours in self-care
Week 4: Putting it all together to create a self-care practice and toolkit
This program is presented by Dr. Shainna Ali and is hosted by the Winter Park Health Foundation.
Program note: You will register one time for this four-week series and registrations will close following week 1. Since each lesson builds upon each other, this series is only open to those who can commit to all four sessions. Space is limited so sign up today to save your spot.
