Event Types :
Join us in person for “Health Literacy Series: Aging Well” taking place on Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at 1 PM in Community Conference Room B.

Studies show that aging well is more than taking care of our physical and mental health. It is also about having a high literacy rate. A lack of health literacy can have consequences for a patient’s personal health. Patients with low health literacy are more likely to visit the emergency room, have more hospital visits and are less likely to follow treatment plans. Tose numbers may seem bleak but prioritizing health literacy can combat being a statistic.

Join Heather Surrency, Health and Financial Literacy Coordinator at the Florida Literacy Coalition Center, in this program focused on self-efficiency, empowerment and learning how to make informed decisions for healthy aging. Surrency will not guide you in making strategic decisions about your health and wellbeing but equip you with the necessary information to remain fully in control of your future. This program is part of the ongoing Health Literacy Series.

Special Note: This program is part of the ongoing Health Literacy Series. Upcoming session include Becoming an Empowered Patient and Care-partner Burnout: Regain Your Life and Health.

This program is presented by Heather Surrency and hosted by the Winter Park Health Foundation in collaboration with the Florida Literacy Coalition Center.

A note regarding COVID-19 safety protocols: At this time, all guests at the Center for Health & Wellbeing are required to wear masks in all indoor spaces, including during our education programs. Presenters may remove their masks in order to be better heard by audience members. Attendees, however, must keep their masks fully in place (covering the nose and mouth) during the entire presentation. In accordance with CHWB guidelines, our programs will also be limited in capacity and rooms set to account for social distancing.

Canceling Your Reservation: If you are unable to attend a program, canceling your reservation gives us an accurate count of how many to expect; for sold-out programs, canceling your reservation also allows someone on the waitlist to attend in your place. Canceling your reservation for this program is especially important as we are currently limiting capacities as part of our COVID-19 safety regulations. Canceling can be done in two easy ways: by calling 407.644.2492 and selecting Option 1, then Option 3 to speak to a representative or by using the online ticket cancellation option in your original confirmation email from Eventbrite.

By participating in this program, you agree to CHWB’s Gracious Space policy.
