To celebrate Father’s Day, we would like to highlight two team members who make a difference both at the Center for Health & Wellbeing and at home as dads. We talked with two amazing fathers who all continue to make CHWB your home for Wholeness, Fitness, and Medicine including, Matt, Executive Director at CHWB and Eugene, Executive Chef & General Manager at Nourish Coffee Bar + Kitchen.
Matt has spent the last 14 years in the health, wellness, and education fields, most recently as the Director of the Crosby Wellness Center at the Center for Health & Wellbeing. Matt started his career as a personal trainer and advanced into a variety of roles within the industry. Matt has two beautiful daughters, Lily (6) and Emma (4). Matt loves to have adventures with his girls and watch their imagination grow and their amazement while experiencing new things. “It makes me realize how we take the simple things in life for granted.” One of Matt’s favorite parts of fatherhood is coming home from a long workday, getting a big hug from Lily and Emma, and seeing how excited they are to welcome him home. Matt encourages his daughters to live healthy lifestyles by constantly staying active with his children. Whether it’s swimming, biking, rollerblading, riding scooters, or playing at the park – his family is always moving and enjoying the outdoors. Matt and his family just finished their first Spartan race at Raymond James Stadium. He shares that it was a great bonding experience and a fun physical feat to accomplish as a family! For Father’s Day, Matt and his family enjoy going to the beach, building sandcastles, and searching for seashells. Their new adventure is learning how to boogie board. A lesson Matt took from his dad into fatherhood is, “Treat others as you would like to be treated.”
Eugene comes to Nourish Coffee Bar + Kitchen with over 30 years of experience in the food, catering, and hospitality business. He has traveled all over the world and catered for high-profile VIPs like The Royal Family and the Dalai Lama. Eugene has six children, three stepchildren, and four grandkids! Christian (36), Fabian (34), Xavier (28), Celine (26), Amber (23), Arron (22), Cameron (21), Aline (21), and Riesse (20). Eugene and his family are originally from the United Kingdom and most of his family still resides in the UK. Eugene’s favorite thing about being a dad is “watching the time and effort invested in raising them all to be honest, hardworking, spiritual, and loving human beings.” To promote a healthy lifestyle amongst his kids and grandchildren, Eugene leads weekly Zoom chats with his family where they talk about life, food, general experiences, and how to live a balanced lifestyle. Since Eugene’s kids live abroad, his favorite Father’s Day activity is to enjoy family Zoom calls where everyone can talk, laugh, and enjoy time spent together.
Happy Father’s Day to the Winter Park Health Foundation, AdventHealth, Nourish Coffee Bar + Kitchen, and Crosby Wellness Center dads that make a difference each day at the Center for Health & Wellbeing. And, Happy Father’s Day to our community members who make CHWB part of their Wholeness, Fitness, and Medicine lifestyle!
