Celebrate Fitmas at CHWB

Focusing on physical health is sometimes pushed to the side when the holidays are in full swing. However, it’s important to stick with your fitness routine during this busy season, because doing so is a vital tool for combating holiday burnout. Exercise reduces stress and anxiety levels, promotes better sleep, improves mood, encourages self-care, and helps us maintains a sense of routine.

The Center for Health & Wellbeing is hosting a week-long holiday-themed fitness celebration called the Five Days of Fitmas. Join us one or every day, from December 11 through December 15, from 11 AM to noon, for a special holiday-themed class led by your favorite instructors from the Crosby Wellness Center, the state-of-the-art fitness facility located inside the Center for Health & Wellbeing. No membership is required to participate in this celebration.

The Five Days of Fitmas line-up:

December 11: Holiday Stretch

Crosby Wellness Center yoga instructor Miranda Harris kicks the week off with a relaxing Holiday Stretch program. She’ll guide you through some poses designed to increase your flexibility and help keep you injury-free, no matter how much you rock around the Christmas tree!

December 12: Functional Fitness

Join Crosby Wellness Center group exercise instructor Tracy Foust for Functional Fitness, a class designed to prepare your body for the years ahead. In functional fitness, you’ll focus on cardio, strength training, balance, flexibility, and coordination, learning skills and tips for increasing your balance, coordination and mobility.

December 13: Tai Chi and Breath Work

Learn how to lower your blood pressure, reduce your heart rate, and increase cardiovascular circulation by taking as few as five modified breaths. Synchronize this breathing with gentle movement to increase your balance, improve proprioception, and increase lymphatic system circulation and you have the keys to better health and vitality.

December 14: Christmas Cardio

Join one of your favorite Crosby Wellness Center group exercise instructors for a fun and festive Christmas Cardio class guaranteed to make your jingle bells rock! You will move and groove your way into the holiday spirit.

December 15: Sound Bowl Healing

After a full week of rocking around the Christmas tree, it will be time to quiet your soul with a relaxing guided meditation and sound healing experience. Under the careful guidance of Crosby Wellness Center group exercise instructor Nicole Elliot, you will participate in sound therapy, a practice that has existed across cultures and throughout history to promote health and wellbeing.

The Five Days of Fitmas is designed to help keep you on track with your health goals this holiday season while still enjoying the fun and joy this time of year has to offer.
