Digital Education Programming Presented by the
Center for Health & Wellbeing

October is Stress Awareness Month at the Center for Health & Wellbeing! Effective stress management helps us break the hold stress has on our lives, so we can be happier, healthier and more productive. By managing stress, we can live a balanced life, with time for work, relationships, relaxation, and fun—and the resilience to hold up under pressure and meet challenges head on.

In this program, you’ll join CHWB experts from the Crosby Wellness Center, Nourish Coffee Bar + Kitchen and AdventHealth to learn more about how exercise, nutrition and preventative techniques can positively impact your body’s reaction to stress.

Crosby Wellness Center Fitness Specialist, certified Personal Trainer and Yoga Instructor Terry Umarally will speak to the stress-relieving benefits of exercise, then lead a series of targeted movements designed to melt away tension.

Next, Chef Collette Haw will tantalize your taste buds and calm your jagged nerves when she shares her recipe for dark chocolate and lavender avocado mousse with a strawberry chutney. This healthy after-dinner treat is rich in dark chocolate, an ingredient scientifically proven to reduce levels of the stress hormone, cortisol.

Finally, Dr. Charles Lammers from AdventHealth will discuss the physiological effects of your body under stress, address symptoms that could possibly be cause for concern, and advise on circumstances that warrant professional help.

Special Instructions: Please be prepared for this program with a sturdy chair to be used during Terry’s movement portion.

This program is presented by the Center for Health & Wellbeing.
