In this program, experts from the Center for Health & Wellbeing explore health and fitness as we age, including an in-depth look at the risks associated with falls and tips for prevention, ways to avoid illness and exercises that increase strength and flexibility.

Physical therapy professionals from AdventHealth Sports Medicine & Rehab and fitness experts representing the Peggy & Philip B. Crosby Wellness Center share information that is critical to your senior health and fitness during this program. For example, osteoporosis and the broken bones it can cause are not part of our normal aging process, but it can profoundly affect us.

By watching this program, you can expect to:

  • understand the importance of weight training for older adults;
  • gain insight into fall prevention and the importance of it in your every-day;
  • and learn additional exercise and stretching tips to maintain a physical and healthy lifestyle.

This program is presented by the Center for Health & Wellbeing in collaboration with AdventHealth and is hosted by the Winter Park Health Foundation.

About Danielle Mize, Personal Trainer at the Crosby Wellness Center
Danielle Mize is a Fitness Specialist at the Crosby Wellness Center in Winter Park, FL. With a Master of Science degree in Sport and Exercise Science, Danielle has 10 years of experience in health and fitness coaching.

While attending the University of Central Florida (UCF), Danielle fell in love with her daily workouts and resources available to her at the campus Wellness Center to manage the stress of a busy schedule. She decided to change majors and pursue a career in fitness, so that she could extend her enthusiasm and knowledge to others hoping that they too, would grow to have a passion for health and fitness.

Following her time at UCF, she has continued to call Orlando her home, and extend her portfolio to include certification as an ACE Certified Health Coach, RRCA Endurance Running Coach and ACSM Exercise Physiologist among others.

Danielle believes that health and wellness is achievable for all and strives to help others through fitness coaching and health education. This work often includes educating others on goal setting, identifying ways to sneak fitness into our hectic lifestyles, and planning for setbacks.

When not helping others towards their wellness goals, Danielle can usually be found training for her next half-marathon or participating in other great adventures.

About Justin Hess, Physical Therapist at AdventHealth Sports Medicine & Rehab
Justin Hess is an Orthopedic Research Manager and Physical Therapist at AdventHealth Sports, Medicine & Rehabilitation. He is also a doctor of Physical Therapy and Board certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist.
