Jazz Singalong and Scat

Doo-be-do-bah! Do you love listening to scat and all that jazz? Come Join CFCArts Teaching Artist and professional jazz vocalist Michelle Mailhot for a unique workshop in jazz music. Sing along to a selection of famous jazz standards and learn the basics of the jazz improv technique known as scatting. You are guaranteed to learn something new in a fun virtual environment. Participants are not required or expected to bring any items to this virtual workshop. Lyrics will be provided during class for easy reference.

This program is presented by Michelle Mailhot, also a Rollins College and Valencia College jazz instructor, and is hosted by the Winter Park Health Foundation in collaboration with Central Florida Community Arts.

About Your Program Presenter
Michelle Mailhot is in demand as a vocalist, arranger, adjudicator and clinician. In 2019, she had the opportunity to sing for season three of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, a comedy-drama web television series created by Amy Sherman-Palladino. Mailhot loves to sing jazz, pop and Broadway at concerts, private events, restaurants and lounges throughout the country. She has a long history of being a Disney performer and has performed with Bobby McFerrin, Mel Tormé, Mannheim Steamroller and Liza Minnelli. As an educator, she is currently on faculty at both Rollin College and Valencia College. She studied extensively with both Phil Mattson and Dr. Stephen Zegree and received her Bachelor of Music Degree from Western Michigan University and her master’s degree from the University of Central Florida. She can be heard most recently on her own solo release “Happy Madness” as well as Bobby McFerrin’s album “Vocabularies.”
