Daniel J. Levitin is an award-winning neuroscientist, musician, and best-selling author whose research encompasses music, the brain, health, productivity and creativity. Dr. Levitin joined us at the Center for Health & Wellbeing in January for our monthly partner series, Growing Bolder Presents.

Nearly 10,000 people turn 65 every day in this country. What happens in our brains as we age? Why should we think about health span, not lifespan? Dive deep into the new world of aging in this video featuring Dr. Levitin, who takes a scientific approach to learning from those who age joyously, as well as how to adapt our culture to take full advantage of older people’s wisdom and experience.

During his only stop in Central Florida, Levitin discussed his latest book, “Successful Aging,” which uses research from developmental neuroscience to show that 60+ years is a unique developmental stage that, like infancy or adolescence, has its own demands and distinct advantages. Throughout his exploration of what aging really means, Levitin reveals resilience strategies and practical, cognitive enhancing tricks everyone should do as they age.
