November is Caregiving Month at the Center for Health & Wellbeing, and while caregiving is a 24/7 job, everyone needs a break to recharge and refocus every now and then. As a caregiver, connecting with others, sharing or learning helpful information, laughing or catching up is an opportunity to start anew.
In this program, you’ll press pause on your caregiving and join experts from the Crosby Wellness Center, the Center for Health & Wellbeing and AdventHealth to learn more about how to care for yourself while caring for others.
First, you’ll gain advice and tips for making the most from your caregiving experience from CHWB Wellbeing Guide Sara Wright and Chef Collette Haw from Nourish Coffee Bar+Kitchen. Wright will share ways you can preserve and enrich yourself through your caregiving experience. Chef Haw will share how to keep yourself and your loved one nourished while caregiving.
Next, AdventHealth Registered Dietician Sherri Flynt will discuss foods that boost your immune system so you can stay healthy and how to recognize – and curb – stress eating.
Finally, Crosby Wellness Center fitness specialist and certified personal trainer JoAnn Nales will teach you how to care for yourself by moving your body and simple exercises you can do at home with or without your loved one.

About Your Program Presenters
About Sherri Flynt, MPH, RD, LD, AdventHealth
Sherri grew up on a farm in Washington state and graduated with a degree in Health Education from Walla Walla College. She went on to get her master’s degree in Public Health from Loma Linda University. While at Loma Linda University, she took additional courses in nutrition and became a registered dietitian in 1985. Her first job landed her at a small community hospital in Alabama, where she spent three years overseeing the cafeteria and patient tray line and providing nutrition education. In 1989, she relocated to Orlando, Florida, and joined AdventHealth where she has been for the past 31 years. She has had several positions with AdventHealth including outpatient dietitian and supervisor of Corporate/Community Services. She currently manages the Center for Nutritional Excellence and New Day, New Weigh weight management program and has the privilege of working with a dedicated team of dietitians, social worker, exercise specialist and chef that have a passion for helping individuals achieve optimal health. She has also co-authored “SuperSized Kids: How to Rescue Your Child from the Obesity Threat” and “Simply Healthy: The Art of Eating Well” cookbook. When Flynt isn’t helping people make healthier lifestyle choices, she enjoys reading, gardening, going to the beach and cheering for the Seattle Seahawks.
About JoAnn Nales, Crosby Wellness Center
Joann Nales is a graduate from the University of Florida. She studied Applied Physiology and Kinesiology with a concentration in Health and Wellness and minored in Disabilities in Society. She interned at UF’s Center for Musculoskeletal Research and Gainesville Health and Fitness. Nales is a NASM certified personal trainer in Functional Movement Systems. Her specialties include functional movement, strength and conditioning, weight loss and degenerative disorders.
About Sara Wright, Center for Health & Wellbeing
CHWB Wellbeing Guide Sara Wright works directly with community members in administration of the Wellbeing Survey, a diagnostic tool that encourages reflection on one’s overall wellbeing as related to the Seven Dimensions of Wellbeing (Intellectual, Spiritual, Physical, Social, Emotional, Vocational, Environmental.) Wright interprets the results of the Wellbeing Survey and creates an individualized plan to help each community member on their personal wellbeing journey. She has more than 20 years of professional experience including the following areas of expertise: social services, health education, community relations, management, personal training and fitness coaching. She earned a master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling and two bachelor’s degrees. She is passionate about helping others reach their goals and achieve self-empowerment.
About Collette Haw
Chef Collette Haw is a classically trained Culinary Institute of America (Hyde Park, New York) graduate. With an exceptional talent for taking a healthy ‘ho-hum’ to a flavor-rich ‘yum!’, Chef Haw approaches the Nourish menu with a unique hybrid of her comfort-food-gone-healthy and ‘food as medicine’ philosophies. Prior to assuming her leadership role at Nourish, Chef Haw spent several years operating her own successful meal delivery service out of Longwood, Collette’s Clean Eats, and as a private chef to a celebrity family in Atlanta.
