Join us for Taxes 101 – Why Your Taxes Shouldn’t Be Taxing On You (Webinar) on Thursday, March 18 at 7 PM.

Tax planning can be stressful, but your taxes shouldn’t be taxing on you. Do you have questions regarding the 2020 stimulus money, a Paycheck Protection Program loan or anything relating to the recent changes in tax law? Do you know how these changes may impact you? Do you want to know how to begin to optimize your tax strategy? Check in with this panel of tax experts as they provide answers to the questions and more. Bring your own questions and ask the experts in real-time! This panel is moderated by Helen Von Dolteren Fournier, J.D., CFP® professional with AEGIS Advisors, LLC.

About the Panel

Michael Salmon, CFP®, EA

Mike Salmon’s expertise lies in helping people make a successful transition into retirement by designing financial plans to help answer whether you have saved enough to meet your goals and desired lifestyle in retirement. Detailed cash flow planning with an emphasis on tax optimization is critical to successful liquidation of assets during retirement. Tax planning is a very important and challenging component of an overall financial plan no matter your stage of life. Salmon assists in tax preparation of individual and corporate tax returns as well as year-end tax projections. He is also an enrolled agent, the highest credential the Internal Revenue Service awards, giving him unlimited practice rights representing taxpayers before the IRS. He also has experience helping Qualified Real Estate Agents make the transition to QREA status. There are many tax and retirement planning strategies available to individuals with this status. He is also an active member of the Central Florida chapter of Financial Planning Association, where he has participated in the “Financial Planning Hotline” for many years. His planning advice has been featured often in the Orlando Sentinel’s “Ask an Expert” column, Investopedia, and CNBC.com. Salmon earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Financial Counseling and Planning from Purdue University. He and his wife, Tiffany, have been married for 7 years and have four young children.

Sylvia “Chris” Presley, CFP®, EA

Slyvia Presley is a chief accountant, enrolled agent and certified financial planner. She is an accredited tax advisor and licensed real estate broker. Presley is the current treasurer of the Financial Planning Association in central Florida. She is the former president of both the Central Florida Society of Accounting and Tax Professionals and the Central Florida Chapter of Professional Business Women’s Organization. Presley has her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Tennessee. She holds a Master’s degree in Business Education from Eastern Kentucky University.

Tommy Lucas, CFP®, EA

Tommy is a certified financial planner professional who has been with the firm since 2015. He graduated from the University of Central Florida with a Bachelor’s degree in Finance. He assists the Financial Planning Department with designing comprehensive financial plans. He also assists with running operations by posting daily downloads, setting up client portals, running client reports and advanced searches within client management software as well as assisting with the quarterly reports and billing processes. He is an enrolled agent, the highest credential the Internal Revenue Service awards, giving him unlimited practice rights representing taxpayers before the IRS. He uses this knowledge to assist in preparing tax returns for clients, as well as creating tax planning strategies.

Rhonda Shurtleff, CFP®, EA

Rhonda Shurtleff is a certified finanical planner practitioner and a certified divorce financial analyst. She is also an enrolled agent with the IRS and a registered social security analyst. Shurtleff holds a General Securities and a Limited Principal license through FINRA as well as a Florida insurance license. She has over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry and has a passion for helping women and families understand their finances and develop a plan for their future. Though a native of Texas, she is a graduate of Rollins College in Winter Park and has lived in Orlando for more than 24 years. She is a member of the Collaborative Family Law Group of Central Florida and the National Association of Divorce Professionals. When she’s not helping others with their finances or volunteering at her church, she enjoys reading, traveling and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
