Join local horticulturalist Caroline Chomanics for Sustainability at Home: Creating an Eco-Home, a class intended for community members to learn the basics of creating the ultimate eco-home related to reducing energy costs, improving water conservation, creating closed loop systems, and more.

Special Instructions: Participants are encouraged to bring a notebook and pen for note-taking.

This program is presented by Caroline Chomanics and is hosted by the Winter Park Health Foundation in collaboration with Fleet Farming.

How to join the Zoom Program:

Upon registration for this program, you will receive two emails:

  • One email from Eventbrite: you can either disregard this email or save it for your records. No action needed with this message.
  • One email from the Center for Health & Wellbeing: this email will contain your link to join the Zoom meeting. Simply select the link and the Zoom Meeting will launch. Please allow yourself five – 10 minutes before program start to launch Zoom and confirm your technology is properly working.

About Your Program Presenter

Caroline Chomanics is a passionate horticulturalist in the Central Florida community, having earned her degree in Landscape and Horticulture Technology from Valencia College and her bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies and Sustainable Urbanism from Rollins College. She developed her horticultural skills while living for four years at Nehrling Gardens, a historic botanical garden, in Gotha, Florida. Chomanics is the program director for Fleet Farming, an urban agriculture program that transforms lawns into farms. Learn more about Fleet Farming at www.FleetFarming.org. She also acts as chief operations officer to IDEAS For Us, a non-profit organization located in Orlando, FL, that develops, funds and scales environmental action projects in the focus areas of energy, water, food, waste, and ecology. When she is not farming, Chomanics is honored to be the gardening teacher at Inspiring Minds Day School, teaching children about the wonders of the natural world.
