Date & Time

March 7 | 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM

Event Types :
Join Jill Hamilton Buss as she leads you through a thought-provoking discussion and a series of writing exercises.

Through this interactive session, you will learn how the scripts we were handed as children or the ones we developed as adults may no longer empower us or make us happy. In this program, licensed mental health counselor Jill Hamilton Buss will lead you through a thought-provoking discussion and a series of writing exercises will help you bring to light the narrative that underpins your life. Like a polaroid picture, buried themes may become visible as you examine your life story through insight-generating exercises and examples. Maybe it’s time to write a happy ending – or a new beginning.

In this program, you will learn more about how your “life story” came to be and how to take back authorship to write the story you want to live. Plus, Hamilton Buss will also explain how to “reframe” sad, hurtful or troubling experiences in ways that can create powerful healing and hope. When you leave this class, you’ll possess crucial therapeutic journaling techniques that can help you when you are sad, hurting or stuck.

We invite you to bring a packed lunch or pick something up from Nourish Coffee Bar + Kitchen at the Center for Health & Wellbeing on your way into the program and use your lunch hour to improve your mental wellbeing.

Program Notes: Participants should be prepared for this program with a journal or paper and a pen for note taking. You need not be a “good writer.” This is not a writing or grammar class, but one of self-discovery.

This program is presented by Jill Hamilton Buss and is hosted by the Winter Park Health Foundation.
