The AdventHealth (formerly Florida Hospital) Endocrinology team is highly skilled in advanced therapies and techniques to treat adults and children with diabetes and thyroid disease. In addition to benefiting from leading-edge research and our network of care, AdventHealth patients visiting our Medical Plaza at the Center for Health & Wellbeing have access to a variety of nutrition and fitness programs that complement their medical treatment.

Whether you have been recently diagnosed with diabetes or are seeking to focus on a particular aspect of your diabetes management, our certified diabetes educators are available to give you the educational tools you need to take control of your wellness. Programs such as diabetes education, Medical Nutrition Therapy, Behavioral Health and New Day, New Weigh – a weight loss management program –  are offered at the Center for Health & Wellbeing. Meet Our Endocrinology Team



Dr. Louise Owen is board certified in internal medicine and fellowship trained in diabetes, endocrinology and metabolism at Houston-based Baylor College of Medicine. She earned her medical degree from Stony Brook School of Medicine in New York and completed her residency at Mayo School of Graduate Medical Education in Rochester, MN. Dr. Owen focuses on the research and treatment of diabetes, thyroid, metabolic bone, lipid, hypertensive, reproductive dysautonomia and prostatic diseases.

Ailiz Martin, PA-C, is a certified physician assistant focusing on diabetes management and patient education. She is a graduate of Nova Southeastern University in Fort Myers, Florida and is a member of the American Academy of Physicians Assistants. Her clinical interests include health promotion, patient education, chronic disease management and crisis intervention. She has a passion for volunteer work including providing medical care for the underserved.



Karissa Yelverton is a certified family nurse practitioner with experience in diabetes management. Her clinical interests include health promotion and chronic disease management, patient education, medication management and nutrition. Prior to joining AdventHealth, Karissa was an honors student at the University of West Florida, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and the University of South Alabama, where she received her Master of Science in Nursing.
