    Monday through Thursday:
    8 am to 5 pm
    Friday: 8 am to 2 pm

Whether you’ve been recently diagnosed with diabetes or are focusing on a particular aspect of your diabetes management, our certified diabetes educators are here to give you the educational tools you need to take control of your wellness. Programs such as diabetes education, medical nutrition therapy, behavioral health and AdventHealth New Day, New Weigh — a weight-loss management program — are offered at the Center for Health & Wellbeing. Meet Our Endocrinology Team

LOUISE OWEN, MD

Dr. Louise Owen is board certified in internal medicine and fellowship trained in diabetes, endocrinology and metabolism at Houston-based Baylor College of Medicine. She earned her medical degree from Stony Brook School of Medicine in New York and completed her residency at Mayo School of Graduate Medical Education in Rochester, MN. Dr. Owen focuses on the research and treatment of diabetes, thyroid, metabolic bone, lipid, hypertensive, reproductive dysautonomia and prostatic diseases.

KARISSA YELVERTON, APRN-BD

Karissa Yelverton is a certified family nurse practitioner with experience in diabetes management. Her clinical interests include health promotion and chronic disease management, patient education, medication management and nutrition. Prior to joining AdventHealth, Karissa was an honors student at the University of West Florida, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and the University of South Alabama, where she received her Master of Science in Nursing.
