Join us for Living Color – Art of The Highwaymen (Webinar) on Tuesday, April 20 at 1 PM.

Grassy marshes, ocean waves and tropical sunsets — escape your reality through these works of art by a group of African-American painters known as The Highwaymen. During the time of Jim Crow and civil rights, these mostly self-taught black artists defied the odds to establish themselves as commercially successful artists, and their vivid landscape paintings depict a lush world we can all submerge ourselves into! Come away to this jungle-like setting for an hour with Orlando Museum of Art Associate Curator David Matteson. During this virtual art tour, you’ll learn more about these renowned artists and their stories, participate in a discussion about this unique group and their ties to Florida all while viewing a selection of their works featured in the Orlando Museum of Art’s recent exhibition. This program is a good fit for audience members of all ages!

This program is presented by David Matteson and is hosted by the Winter Park Health Foundation.
