Join us for Hoo-oo-oo-oo! Owls in the Neighborhood (Webinar) on Monday, March 8 at 11 AM.

Do you hear hoots in your neighborhood? It may be your watchful neighbor, the owl. Spotting an owl may be a challenge, but these fowls live in our very own backyards and can be heard in the distance. Florida is home to a few species of owls, many of which live in urban settings. Learn all about these birds of prey in this interactive program presented by Laura VonMutius, education manager at Audubon Center of Birds of Prey. In this program, you will learn about various owl species’ that call Florida home; how to identify them; owls’ neat adaptations; and activities or ways to improve your yard or community to benefit the owl and bird species that reside in your neighborhood, all while getting to virtually meet live owl ambassadors!

This program is presented by Laura VonMutius and is hosted by the Winter Park Health Foundation.

About Your Program Presenter

VonMutius started her career as an educator at SeaWorld before working with the Central Florida Zoo, where she was a conservation educator and resident artist. Through her years of being an educator, VonMutius has inspired children and adults alike to take part in conserving wildlife through her enthusiastic leadership at summer camps, programs for public, private and homeschool students and special events. Working with live birds is one of VonMutius’ favorite parts of her job. While she isn’t supposed to pick favorites, she is partial to Gretel, a sweet Swallow-tailed Kite. VonMutius grew up in Orlando and holds a Bachelor of Science in Art Education from Florida State University. She continues to create art in her free time.
