SUMMARY:Crystal Bowl Sound Meditation for Community + Connection
DESCRIPTION:Join Certified Meditation Instructor Camille Sacco for community + connection throughout the month.\n\n\nJoin Certified Meditation Instructor Camille Sacco for community + connection\, and to learn the basics of meditation and to experience a crystal bowl sound bath. \nPart meditation\, part listening exercise\, Sound Baths are healing musical performances played with crystal singing bowls and chimes. They can be very therapeutic because you are literally bathed in sound waves\, where you will enter a state of deep relaxation. Sound baths help facilitate shifts in our brainwaves by using entrainment. Entrainment synchronizes our brainwaves by providing a stable frequency which the brainwaves can attune to. By listening to the rhythm and frequencies of the crystal bowls\, we can downshift our normal beta state (normal waking consciousness) to alpha (relaxed consciousness) and even reach theta (meditative state) where profound learning\, healing and growth can occur. \nThis sound healing experience is designed to clear and release negative energy\, open your heart\, and promote a quieter state of mind. The harmonious sounds are created to support your body’s natural healing processes while you recline on blankets and pillows. After the session\, you’ll leave feeling mentally and physically rested\, ready to enjoy the peace and tranquility of a healthy mind\, body and spirit. \nSpecial Instructions: Attendees can sit in a chair or on the floor for this program. Participants are encouraged to bring a yoga mat\, towel\, or small blanket; chairs will be available for those who prefer to use one. The room can also be cool during this program\, so cold-sensitive participants may also want to bring a light jacket or sweater. All attendees are also encouraged to bring their own bottles of water. \nSpecial note: Beginning in 2024\, we will be charging a small fee for some of Camille’s meditation classes. The first session of each month will remain free\, so please use that as an opportunity to introduce friends to the practice of mindfulness and meditation. Space is limited so please reserve your spot for the free community class each month; and if you book a spot and can no longer attend\, please cancel your reservation to allow someone from our wait list to share in this experience. \nThis program is presented by Camille Sacco and hosted by the Winter Park Health Foundation. \nAbout the Presenter:    \nCamille Sacco is an American Institute of Health Care Professionals Mindfulness Coach and meditation instructor. She is also a graduate of the acclaimed Palouse Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Course. Camille is the author of two self-help books\, “Hippiebanker: Bringing Peace\, Love and Spirituality to the Workplace” and her latest book\, “Firefly Culture: Illuminate Your Workplace by Tuning in to Mindfulness.” She leads fun and informative classes and workshops on mindful meditations and her coaching sessions are infused with down-to-Earth guidance. She is both informative and fun in her approach. Her goal is to help people tap in to the wisdom of their soul by cultivating daily practices that will inspire confidence in the pursuit of living their lives with a higher purpose. SUMMARY:CHWB Book Club: "Late Migrations"
DESCRIPTION:Join the CHWB Book Club for the August Book Club selection\, we will be reading and discussing “Late Migrations” by Margaret Renkl.\n\n\nWe’re excited to announce the CHWB Book Club is back! \nA book club can have several goals at once\, including the social aspect of getting together with others in a relaxed setting and the focused activity of discussing various elements of a particular book that everyone in the group has (mostly) read. A survey by BookBrowse of over 5\,500 individuals engaged in book clubs across the country reported that survey responders highlighted both the value of discussion focused on the chosen book AND the social nature of the group. \, \nOur CHWB Book Club facilitator Dr. Annette Kelly\, an avid reader and founder and recently retired Board President of Neighbors Network\, aims to help you do both! \nFor our August Book Club selection\, we will be reading and discussing “Late Migrations” by Margaret Renkl. Published in 2019 and available in paperback\, this beautifully written memoir combines  themes of family relationships and the natural world in which we all live. \nRichard Powers\, author of “The Overstory\,” calls this book “a compact glory.” Author Ann Patchett calls “Late Migrations” “an examination of the quiet life” for which we often yearn. \nIn addition to this focused title discussion\, we will have time for sharing recently read books… a great way to find your next read!! \nSpecial Note: Participants are asked to borrow or purchase the featured book prior to the program’s start date. Book clubs work well when participants have read the book\, but this is not a requirement. Being open to the opinions and reflections of others is important\, as is staying on topic. Other elements of a “good” discussion: making room for everyone who wishes to speak\, being attentive when others are speaking\, not interrupting\, or arguing\, and encouraging less talkative members to join in. \nThis program is presented by Dr. Annette Kelly and is hosted by the Winter Park Health Foundation. \nAbout the Presenter: \nAnnette Kelly\, Ph.D.\, retired as the board president of Neighbors Network\, a local non-profit\, whose mission is the independence\, engagement\, and connectedness of older adults in our community. Annette writes the monthly column “The View From Here” in our local Community Paper.  She is a retired nurse practitioner and nursing professor. Kelly is an avid reader who has been married to Jerry for 61 years and enjoys gardening\, painting\, and spending time with her family and friends.

SUMMARY:Exploring Herbal Teas
DESCRIPTION:Join us as we explore herbal teas and how they can be a vital part of our everyday health and wellbeing routines.\n\n\n“While there is tea\, there is hope.” \nThis British saying rings true to many tea lovers. Beloved for thousands of years for its capacity to comfort\, a cup of tea is an enduring tradition shared by many cultures around the world. In recent years\, scientists have also begun touting the many health benefits of regular tea consumption. Shown to help with sleep\, aid in digestion\, promote rest and relaxation and even boost immunity\, it seems there are few things a small but mighty cup of tea can’t cure. \nJoin us as we explore herbal teas and how they can be a vital part of our everyday health and wellbeing routines. Under the careful guidance of gardener Melissa Goltermann of Momma G Farms\, you will sample several herbal teas and learn the different ways to prepare them. \nThis program is presented by Melissa Goltermann and is hosted by the Winter Park Health Foundation. \nAbout the Presenter:    \nMelissa Goltermann started her healing journey after 10 years of being on pain management due to a serious car accident. She found the medication was only masking her symptoms and she searched for ways to heal her body. Coming off the medication was not easy\, and her body is still healing. Moringa was the first thing she used to help in her healing journey. Her mission is to educate others on how plants can be a part of a healthy healing diet. She offers free classes to children and adults at her not-for-profit food forest farm Momma G Farms\, located in Eustis\, Florida.

SUMMARY:Crystal Bowl Sound Meditation for Community + Connection
DESCRIPTION:Join Certified Meditation Instructor Camille Sacco for community + connection\, and to learn the basics of meditation and to experience a crystal bowl sound bath.
