SUMMARY:Sound Bowl Healing
DESCRIPTION:Experience this unique form of meditation for yourself with Crosby Wellness Center’s Kurt Kors.\n\n\nJoin experienced sound healing practitioners from the Peggy & Philip B. Crosby Wellness Center at the Center for Health & Wellbeing for a relaxing guided meditation and sound healing experience. \nThe use of sound therapy has existed across cultures and throughout history to promote health and wellbeing. Research shows that sound healing therapy can minimize and relieve pain\, stimulate the immune system\, reduce stress and improve mental and emotional clarity. \nParticipants will be guided through meditation in a seated or reclined position and experience a crystal bowl sound bath. As you relax\, crystal bowls resonate with the crystalline structure of your cells to balance your body’s electromagnetic field\, cleanse and strengthen the energy you radiate\, and promote a deeper sense of calm. \nSpecial Instructions: Attendees are encouraged to sit or recline on the floor for this program. Participants are encouraged to bring a yoga mat\, towel\, or small blanket; chairs will be available for those who prefer to use one. The room can also be cool during this program\, so cold-sensitive participants may also want to bring a light jacket or sweater. All attendees are also encouraged to bring their own bottles of water. \nThis program is presented by Kurt Kors and is hosted by the Winter Park Health Foundation in partnership with the Crosby Wellness Center. \nAbout the Presenter: \nKurt Kors is a certified yoga instructor\, experienced meditation guide and sound healer. SUMMARY:Crystal Bowl Sound Meditation for Community + Connection
DESCRIPTION:Join Certified Meditation Instructor Camille Sacco for community + connection throughout the month.\n\n\nJoin Certified Meditation Instructor Camille Sacco for community + connection\, and to learn the basics of meditation and to experience a crystal bowl sound bath. \nPart meditation\, part listening exercise\, Sound Baths are healing musical performances played with crystal singing bowls and chimes. They can be very therapeutic because you are literally bathed in sound waves\, where you will enter a state of deep relaxation. Sound baths help facilitate shifts in our brainwaves by using entrainment. Entrainment synchronizes our brainwaves by providing a stable frequency which the brainwaves can attune to. By listening to the rhythm and frequencies of the crystal bowls\, we can downshift our normal beta state (normal waking consciousness) to alpha (relaxed consciousness) and even reach theta (meditative state) where profound learning\, healing and growth can occur. \nThis sound healing experience is designed to clear and release negative energy\, open your heart\, and promote a quieter state of mind. The harmonious sounds are created to support your body’s natural healing processes while you recline on blankets and pillows. After the session\, you’ll leave feeling mentally and physically rested\, ready to enjoy the peace and tranquility of a healthy mind\, body and spirit. \nSpecial Instructions: Attendees can sit in a chair or on the floor for this program. \nSpecial note: Beginning in 2024\, we will be charging a small fee for some of Camille’s meditation classes. The first session of each month will remain free\, so please use that as an opportunity to introduce friends to the practice of mindfulness and meditation. Space is limited so please reserve your spot for the free community class each month; and if you book a spot and can no longer attend\, please cancel your reservation to allow someone from our wait list to share in this experience. \nThis program is presented by Camille Sacco and hosted by the Winter Park Health Foundation. \nAbout the Presenter:    \nCamille Sacco is an American Institute of Health Care Professionals Mindfulness Coach and meditation instructor. She is also a graduate of the acclaimed Palouse Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Course. Camille is the author of two self-help books\, “Hippiebanker: Bringing Peace\, Love and Spirituality to the Workplace” and her latest book\, “Firefly Culture: Illuminate Your Workplace by Tuning in to Mindfulness.” She leads fun and informative classes and workshops on mindful meditations and her coaching sessions are infused with down-to-Earth guidance. She is both informative and fun in her approach. Her goal is to help people tap in to the wisdom of their soul by cultivating daily practices that will inspire confidence in the pursuit of living their lives with a higher purpose. Otherwise\, chairs will be provided. Those on certain blood thinners and gastro medicines should consult with their physician prior to sampling certain herbal teas. If this includes you\, you can still attend but please alert the program presenter prior to the start of the session that you will need to avoid certain teas due to these medications. \nCancelling Your Reservation: In order to receive a full refund\, participants must cancel their program registration at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled start of the program. SUMMARY:Upbeat! Live Performance
DESCRIPTION:Join us at CHWB for a live performance from the Upbeat! Performers and learn more about their artistic process.\n\n\nThis spring\, the Center for Health & Wellbeing invites you to enjoy a very special performance. Central Florida Community Arts’ UpBeat! provides an artistic platform for youth\, teen\, and adult exceptional learners and neurodivergent performers. \nThe UpBeat! Troupe produces multiple performances each year\, including both short films and musicals\, featuring the unique talents and abilities of a cast of performers with various exceptionalities and diagnoses. CFCArts is proud to holistically support its performers and showcase their abilities\, so the community at large can witness their incredible talent and potential. \nJoin us at CHWB for a live performance from the Upbeat! Performers and learn more about their artistic process. \nOne of the things that makes UpBeat! unique is the use of an interprofessional team of board-certified music therapists\, arts in health practitioners\, and teaching artists who collaborate to develop programs based on the individual needs of the performers. \nThis is a performance you will not forget. Audience members of all ages are invited to enjoy this performance. Light refreshments from Nourish Coffee Bar + Kitchen will be provided. \nThis program is presented by Center Florida Community Arts and is hosted by the Winter Park Health Foundation. \nAbout the Presenting Organization:    \nOne of the key missions of Central Florida Community Arts has been to make high-quality arts programming accessible to everyone in Central Florida\, regardless of age\, ability\, or available resources. Through our partnership with the Down Syndrome Association of Central Florida\, we recognized a critical need in our community. While performing arts programs for individuals with physical and cognitive disabilities existed\, many offerings concluded once the participant reached the age of twenty-one. \nRecognizing the importance of providing these programs CFCArts created the UpBeat! Theater Troupe in 2018\, providing performance opportunities to our local teen and adult exceptional learners. Our purpose was to provide an inclusive space for all members of our community with varying abilities to build creative skills such as acting\, singing\, and dance in addition to supporting life skills including verbal and non-verbal communication\, self-expression\, emotional regulation\, and group cohesion. In 2020 the program developed a virtual short film option in response to COVID-19\, which has continued to serve folks outside of our geographic region including participation from four other states. And in 2021\, we created a youth-based program serving ages 7-13 upon requests from parents in our local community. \nUpBeat! has received many accolades including winning the 2020 International Hamilton Arts & Innovation Award and a prestigious grant in 2021 from the National Endowment for the Arts. Additionally\, UpBeat! has been featured in 2021-2023 at the Family Cafe\, Florida’s largest disabilities summit\, in addition to being shared as a program model at the National Organization for Arts & Health Conference (2021)\, Berklee College of Music’s ABLE Assembly (2022)\, and at the MedPACt’s Global Health Conference hosted by the University of Central Florida (2023).

SUMMARY:Sound Bowl Healing
DESCRIPTION:Experience this unique form of meditation for yourself with Crosby Wellness Center’s Nicole Elliott.\n\n\nJoin experienced sound healing practitioners from the Peggy & Philip B. \nThis program is presented by Nicole Elliott and is hosted by the Winter Park Health Foundation in partnership with the Crosby Wellness Center. \nAbout the Presenter: \nNicole Elliott is a Yoga Alliance certified meditation guide and yoga instructor. Her intention is to create a peaceful space to practice mindfulness and wellbeing.
