SUMMARY:Reenergize and Realign Through Breath and Movement
DESCRIPTION:In this program\, led by Crosby Wellness Center group fitness instructor Alan Zemel you’ll learn techniques to consciously modify the breath.\n\n\nMost of us roll out of bed each day already looking outward on the day\, measuring expectations and planning how to meet them; then\, in the evening\, we arrive exhausted from having spent hours and energy navigating the demands of our ever-changing day. In this program\, led by Crosby Wellness Center group fitness instructor Alan Zemel\, a certified Oxygen Advantage Functional Breathing coach with the Oxygen Research Institute\, you’ll learn techniques to consciously modify the breath and move the body that are scientifically proven to bring inner peace and relaxation. Exercises will be taught explaining the science behind many topics such as vagal tone\, heart rate variability\, the blood O2/CO2 balance\, and other physiologic processes of the relaxation response that you can control. Experience first-hand how intentional focused functional breathing and synchronized movement can bring peace and wellbeing to the mind and body. \nThis program is presented by Alan Zemel and is hosted by the Winter Park Health Foundation in partnership with the Crosby Wellness Center. \nAbout the Program Presenter  \nAlan Zemel works with the Winter Park Health Foundation\, Center for Health & Wellbeing\, CanoHealth\, Westminster Retirement Community\, and the Veteran’s Administration. SUMMARY:How to Practice Mindfulness and Self-Care
DESCRIPTION:On January 23\, led by mental health professionals from the Orange County Public Schools CHILL program\, we will seek to clearly define what self-care is.\n\n\nThe modern conveniences of cell phones\, Internet access and constant connectivity can be wonderful ways to stay in touch\, learn new things and access important information any time of day. But with these tools also comes what can be serious side effects\, particularly for young people. \nIn an age of hearing different perspectives at all times via social media and the constant hustle culture\, what does self-care look like? Is it actually a selfish thing to pursue or is it necessary for survival? With information overload\, how is an individual to differentiate what is important to them versus what one has heard an Instagram influencer say? Self-care for children and teenagers may look a lot different than for adults and parents\, and this is an important aspect to realize when raising or working with children. \nIn this hands-on workshop\, led by mental health professionals from the Orange County Public Schools CHILL program\, we will seek to clearly define what self-care is and the purpose behind it. The CHILL counselors will help you understand your “why” behind self-care and how to support this for yourself\, your family\, and your children. \nMindfulness is a huge part of self-care that will be covered and you will gain some practical techniques on how to apply this in your day to day. Join the conversation as we seek to set foundations for some common terms that are thrown around quite a bit these days. \nThis program is presented by CHILL Counselors and is hosted by the Winter Park Health Foundation. \nAbout the Presenter:    \nThe CHILL (Community Help & Intervention in Life’s Lessons) program in Orange County Public Schools was founded in 1998 by the Winter Park Health Foundation in partnership with the 12 Orange County Public School serving Winter Park\, Maitland and Eatonville. CHILL provides free\, confidential\, in-school counseling to students and their families. It is part of a collection of school-based health and wellness services supported by WPHF called the Coordinated Youth Initiative (CYI). Other services include nurses\, nurse practitioners in school-based health centers\, and healthy school teams.

SUMMARY:Crystal Bowl Sound Meditation for Community + Connection
DESCRIPTION:Join Certified Meditation Instructor Camille Sacco for community + connection throughout the month.\n\n\nJoin Certified Meditation Instructor Camille Sacco for community + connection\, and to learn the basics of meditation and to experience a crystal bowl sound bath. \nPart meditation\, part listening exercise\, Sound Baths are healing musical performances played with crystal singing bowls and chimes. They can be very therapeutic because you are literally bathed in sound waves\, where you will enter a state of deep relaxation. Sound baths help facilitate shifts in our brainwaves by using entrainment. Entrainment synchronizes our brainwaves by providing a stable frequency which the brainwaves can attune to. By listening to the rhythm and frequencies of the crystal bowls\, we can downshift our normal beta state (normal waking consciousness) to alpha (relaxed consciousness) and even reach theta (meditative state) where profound learning\, healing and growth can occur. \nThis sound healing experience is designed to clear and release negative energy\, open your heart\, and promote a quieter state of mind. The harmonious sounds are created to support your body’s natural healing processes while you recline on blankets and pillows. After the session\, you’ll leave feeling mentally and physically rested\, ready to enjoy the peace and tranquility of a healthy mind\, body and spirit. \nSpecial Instructions: Attendees can sit in a chair or on the floor for this program. Participants are encouraged to bring a yoga mat\, towel\, or small blanket; chairs will be available for those who prefer to use one. The room can also be cool during this program\, so cold-sensitive participants may also want to bring a light jacket or sweater. All attendees are also encouraged to bring their own bottles of water. \nSpecial note: Beginning in 2024\, we will be charging a small fee for some of Camille’s meditation classes. The first session of each month will remain free\, so please use that as an opportunity to introduce friends to the practice of mindfulness and meditation. Space is limited so please reserve your spot for the free community class each month; and if you book a spot and can no longer attend\, please cancel your reservation to allow someone from our wait list to share in this experience. \nThis program is presented by Camille Sacco and hosted by the Winter Park Health Foundation. \nAbout the Presenter:    \nCamille Sacco is an American Institute of Health Care Professionals Mindfulness Coach and meditation instructor. She is also a graduate of the acclaimed Palouse Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Course. Camille is the author of two self-help books\, “Hippiebanker: Bringing Peace\, Love and Spirituality to the Workplace” and her latest book\, “Firefly Culture: Illuminate Your Workplace by Tuning in to Mindfulness.” She leads fun and informative classes and workshops on mindful meditations and her coaching sessions are infused with down-to-Earth guidance. She is both informative and fun in her approach. SUMMARY:Projective Dreamworks: A Four-Part Series
DESCRIPTION:Puzzled by your dreams? With Judy Minear\, a projective dream work expert\, you’ll unpack the symbolic language of the “theater of the night”.\n\n\nA note about this program series: After registering for the first class in this four-part series\, attendees are expected to attend all four sessions (February 8\, 15\, 22\, and 29th) in order to gain the most out of this program. If you cannot attend all four sessions\, please allow someone else to register for this limited-capacity program.  \nAre you puzzled by your dreams? With Judy Minear\, a projective dream work expert with a decade of experience in dream group facilitation\, you’ll unpack the symbolic language of the “theater of the night.” Over the course of four group sessions\, you will build on the basic tenet that all dreams come in the service of health and wholeness. As you mine the wisdom expressed in your dreams\, you’ll build a better relationship with yourself and others. Dreams offer guidance\, clues\, inspiration and multiple meanings. The group process provides a supportive path to unearth the clues from our own unconscious. \nIn this series\, you can expect to learn: \n• How to improve dream recall \n• Two methods of working a dream \n• How to tap into the depths of symbols \nProgram notes: Please bring notes about a recent dream to class\, even if it is a fragment. The class is based on the seminal work of Jeremy Taylor. His book “The Wisdom of Your Dreams” is helpful but not necessary. \nThis program is presented by Judy Minear and is hosted by the Winter Park Health Foundation. \nAbout the Presenter: \nJudy Minear has participated in Dream groups for over 20 years. She attended the annual Haden Summer Dream Conference for seven years. She has been the current facilitator for an ongoing dream group for seven years. She studied with Jeremy Taylor as well as others who have been instrumental in the International Association for the Study of Dreams. She credits her curiosity for her deep interest in dreams. Unpacking dream symbols and working with shadows feels like a calling to her. After multiple experiences in Egypt\, she developed an active interest in the mysteries. She has offered this class at the Rollins STARS venue as well as the Winter Park Library. She brings a deep understanding as well as a warmth and a sense of humor to the process of Projective Dream Work.
