SUMMARY:Sound Bowl Healing
DESCRIPTION:Experience this unique form of meditation for yourself with Crosby Wellness Center’s Nicole Elliott.\n\n\nJoin experienced sound healing practitioners from the Peggy & Philip B. Crosby Wellness Center at the Center for Health & Wellbeing for a relaxing guided meditation and sound healing experience. \nThe use of sound therapy has existed across cultures and throughout history to promote health and wellbeing. Research shows that sound healing therapy can minimize and relieve pain\, stimulate the immune system\, reduce stress and improve mental and emotional clarity. \nParticipants will be guided through meditation in a seated or reclined position and experience a crystal bowl sound bath. As you relax\, crystal bowls resonate with the crystalline structure of your cells to balance your body’s electromagnetic field\, cleanse and strengthen the energy you radiate\, and promote a deeper sense of calm. \nSpecial Instructions: Attendees are encouraged to sit or recline on the floor for this program. Participants are encouraged to bring a yoga mat\, towel\, or small blanket; chairs will be available for those who prefer to use one. The room can also be cool during this program\, so cold-sensitive participants may also want to bring a light jacket or sweater. All attendees are also encouraged to bring their own bottles of water. \nThis program is presented by Nicole Elliott and is hosted by the Winter Park Health Foundation in partnership with the Crosby Wellness Center. \nAbout the Presenter: \nNicole Elliott is a Yoga Alliance certified meditation guide and yoga instructor. Her intention is to create a peaceful space to practice mindfulness and wellbeing.

SUMMARY:Crystal Bowl Sound Meditation for Community + Connection
DESCRIPTION:Join Certified Meditation Instructor Camille Sacco for community + connection throughout the month.\n\n\nJoin Certified Meditation Instructor Camille Sacco for community + connection\, and to learn the basics of meditation and to experience a crystal bowl sound bath. \nPart meditation\, part listening exercise\, Sound Baths are healing musical performances played with crystal singing bowls and chimes. They can be very therapeutic because you are literally bathed in sound waves\, where you will enter a state of deep relaxation. Sound baths help facilitate shifts in our brainwaves by using entrainment. Entrainment synchronizes our brainwaves by providing a stable frequency which the brainwaves can attune to. By listening to the rhythm and frequencies of the crystal bowls\, we can downshift our normal beta state (normal waking consciousness) to alpha (relaxed consciousness) and even reach theta (meditative state) where profound learning\, healing and growth can occur. \nThis sound healing experience is designed to clear and release negative energy\, open your heart\, and promote a quieter state of mind. The harmonious sounds are created to support your body’s natural healing processes while you recline on blankets and pillows. After the session\, you’ll leave feeling mentally and physically rested\, ready to enjoy the peace and tranquility of a healthy mind\, body and spirit. \nSpecial Instructions: Attendees can sit in a chair or on the floor for this program. \nSpecial note: Beginning in 2024\, we will be charging a small fee for some of Camille’s meditation classes. The first session of each month will remain free\, so please use that as an opportunity to introduce friends to the practice of mindfulness and meditation. Space is limited so please reserve your spot for the free community class each month; and if you book a spot and can no longer attend\, please cancel your reservation to allow someone from our wait list to share in this experience. \nThis program is presented by Camille Sacco and hosted by the Winter Park Health Foundation. \nAbout the Presenter:    \nCamille Sacco is an American Institute of Health Care Professionals Mindfulness Coach and meditation instructor. She is also a graduate of the acclaimed Palouse Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Course. Camille is the author of two self-help books\, “Hippiebanker: Bringing Peace\, Love and Spirituality to the Workplace” and her latest book\, “Firefly Culture: Illuminate Your Workplace by Tuning in to Mindfulness.” She leads fun and informative classes and workshops on mindful meditations and her coaching sessions are infused with down-to-Earth guidance. She is both informative and fun in her approach. Her goal is to help people tap in to the wisdom of their soul by cultivating daily practices that will inspire confidence in the pursuit of living their lives with a higher purpose. SUMMARY:Keys to Supporting Healthy Adolescent Development
DESCRIPTION:On May 15\, join counselors from the OCPS CHILL program for an educational seminar that will provide the opportunity for parents to learn about the different aspects of adolescent growth and development.\n\n\nHealthy development begins at the start of a child’s life\, and the role of parents is enormous to help shape and support healthy and happy children. As parents\, it is important to understand the normal ranges of development\, including physical\, social\, emotional\, and intellectual areas. All children develop at their own pace\, but it is important for parents to be able to provide appropriate expectations and support for their children at all ages and phases. As children move into the adolescent phases\, there are even more challenges that arise with fostering healthy relationships and preparing teenagers for adulthood. \nLed by counselors from the CHILL program at Orange County Public Schools\, this educational seminar will provide the opportunity for parents to learn about the different aspects of adolescent growth and development including emotional\, physical\, social\, and intellectual development.  Come join mental health professionals to discuss the importance of downtime and balance as a way to enhance creativity\, presence\, connection\, and emotional regulation throughout this period. We will also explore the ways that parental expectations can impact an adolescent’s growth and development\, and how to practice self-awareness during the parenting journey and beyond. \nThis program is presented by CHILL Counselors and is hosted by the Winter Park Health Foundation. \nAbout the Presenter:    \nThe CHILL (Community Help & Intervention in Life’s Lessons) program in Orange County Public Schools was founded in 1998 by the Winter Park Health Foundation in partnership with the 12 Orange County Public School serving Winter Park\, Maitland and Eatonville. CHILL provides free\, confidential\, in-school counseling to students and their families. It is part of a collection of school-based health and wellness services supported by WPHF called the Coordinated Youth Initiative (CYI). Other services include nurses\, nurse practitioners in school-based health centers\, and healthy school teams.
