DESCRIPTION:Join us for “Health Literacy Series: Care Partner Burnout” taking place on Tuesday\, April 5 at 1 PM in Community Conference Center.\n\n\nIf you had to care for a loved one who had the flu or some other illness for a few days\, can you imagine how demanding the experience would be if it continued for years? Millions of people across the nation serve as care partners for a family member\, whether it is an elderly parent\, a spouse\, a special needs child or another relative. It is not unusual for a care partner to become exhausted\, stressed\, overwhelmed\, depressed\, lonely and\, in some cases\, the care partner may even become ill themselves. If this is you or you know of someone who may be experiencing this\, we invite you to join Nancy J. Niles\, Ph.D.\, Rollins College chair of the Health Professions Department\, in this seminar that will provide tips on how to balance your caregiving role and your own life. \nThis program is part of the ongoing Health Literacy Series. High health literacy can help each of us achieve one of our biggest goals: to thrive while growing older. By being equipped with the necessary information\, you can make strategic decisions and remain in full control of your future. \nThis program is presented by Nancy J. Niles\, Ph.D.\, and hosted by the Winter Park Health Foundation. \nCanceling Your Reservation: If you are unable to attend a program\, cancelling your reservation gives us an accurate count of how many to expect; for sold-out programs\, cancelling your reservation also allows someone on the waitlist to attend in your place. Canceling your reservation for this program is especially important as most of our programs have limited capacities. Cancelling can be done in two easy ways: by calling 407.644.2492 and selecting Option 1\, then Option 3 to speak to a representative or by using the online ticket cancellation option in your original confirmation email from Eventbrite. \nBy participating in this program\, you agree to CHWB’s Gracious Space policy. \nAbout the Program Presenter \nNancy J. Niles\, Ph.D.\, is the chair of the Health Professions department and program director for the undergraduate Healthcare Management major at Rollins College. She teaches both graduate and undergraduate health related courses. Prior to her arrival at Rollins College\, she taught in two undergraduate business schools located in small liberal arts colleges. Her related work experience includes a directorship of a multi-million-dollar New York state health program\, and as a consultant for small businesses. She was also a Peace Corps volunteer for two tours in Senegal\, West Africa\, where she managed health and business projects. During her second Peace Corps tour\, she was appointed to manage an economic development project for the U.S. Ambassador. SUMMARY:Mindfulness and Meditation: Non-striving and Patience (In Person)
DESCRIPTION:Join us in person for Mindfulness and Meditation: Non-striving and Patience on Monday\, April 4\, 2022 at 7 PM in Community Conference Center.\n\n\nSpecial Note: Participants are encouraged to attend each week session of the four-week program\, but it is not a requirement. You may sign up for any of the four programs without attending the others. \nThis four-week program with Meditation Instructor Camille Sacco will introduce you to the concepts of mindfulness and meditation. You’ll learn practical tips and simple tools to transform your home and work life into the place it deserves to be. Each week\, you’ll learn a little something different about mindfulness and meditation. \nEach week\, you’ll discuss two attitudes and how they relate to mindfulness. You will also practice a meditation and have time at the end of the class for discussion and takeaways. Together\, this will constitute the foundation upon which you will be able to build a strong mindful meditation practice of your own. \nIn addition to meditations\, you’ll also experience a Crystal Bowl Sound Bath. Part meditation\, part listening exercise\, Sound Baths are healing musical performances played with crystal singing bowls and chimes. They can be very therapeutic because you are literally bathed in sound waves\, where you will enter a state of deep relaxation. Sound baths help facilitate shifts in our brainwaves by using entrainment. Entrainment synchronizes our brainwaves by providing a stable frequency which the brainwaves can attune to. By listening to the rhythm and frequencies of the crystal bowls\, we can downshift our normal beta state (normal waking consciousness) to alpha (relaxed consciousness) and even reach theta (meditative state) where profound learning\, healing and growth can occur. \nIn week one\, you will cover: \n\nAttitudes: Non-striving and Patience.\nMeditation: Awareness of Breath\n\nSpecial Instructions: Attendees can sit in a chair or on the floor for this program. Participants are encouraged to bring a yoga mat\, towel\, or small blanket; chairs will be available for those who prefer to use one. The room can also be cool during this program\, so cold-sensitive participants may also want to bring a light jacket or sweater. All attendees are also encouraged to bring their own bottles of water. \nThis program is presented by Camille Sacco and hosted by the Winter Park Health Foundation. \nCancelling Your Reservation: If you are unable to attend a program\, cancelling your reservation gives us an accurate count of how many to expect; for sold-out programs\, cancelling your reservation also allows someone on the waitlist to attend in your place. \n About the Program Presenter \nCamille Sacco is an American Institute of Health Care Professionals Mindfulness Coach and meditation instructor. She is also a graduate of the acclaimed Palouse Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Course. Sacco is the author of two self-help books\, “Hippiebanker: Bringing Peace\, Love and Spirituality to the Workplace” and her latest book\, “Firefly Culture: Illuminate Your Workplace by Tuning in to Mindfulness.” She leads fun and informative classes and workshops on mindful meditations and her coaching sessions are infused with down-to-Earth guidance. She is both informative and fun in her approach. Her goal is to help people tap in to the wisdom of their soul by cultivating daily practices that will inspire confidence in the pursuit of living their lives with a higher purpose.
