If you want to experience new flavors and you want your family to eat the best and most nutritious desserts\, this class is for you. Hosted by plant-based\, certified ACE health coach Julie Ward\, you will learn techniques and tips for introducing raw desserts into your diet. Now\, modern western researchers are realizing tea’s role in managing mental and physical health – in addition to supporting lower stress and anxiety\, studies have even found that some teas may help with cancer\, heart disease\, and diabetes\, encourage weight loss\, and lower cholesterol. \nThis program focuses on learning to be in tune with what you feel in your body and following that intuition in the real world. You’ll taste a series of herbal teas designed to give you energy and relax the mind; then\, you’ll take a silent moment and get in touch with your body. During this hour\, program presenter Julie Ward\, a plant-based\, certified ACE health coach and international health speaker\, will lead you through a tasting of three different herbal teas and guide you to notice where the energy moves in your body. He also performs electrodiagnostic (EMG) testing to aid in the diagnosis of various neuromusculoskeletal conditions. \nOriginally from Turkey\, Dr. Kiymaz grew up mainly in Orlando and has been active in sports his entire life. He attended Winter Park High School and went on to play Division I tennis at Harvard University\, graduating with Honors with a degree in biomedical engineering. He earned his medical degree from the Wake Forest School of Medicine\, completed his internship at Wake Forest Baptist Health\, his residency in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) at Temple University Hospital/MossRehab\, and his fellowship in Sports Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. \nHis previous sports medicine experience includes mass event and team coverage at all levels\, from high school to professional\, including working with the Philadelphia 76ers (NBA)\, Philadelphia Flyers (NHL)\, Philadelphia Eagles (NFL)\, University of Pennsylvania athletics (NCAA Division I)\, and several high schools in the Philadelphia area. \nDr. Kiymaz is a member of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine\, American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation\, and the American Association of Neuromuscular & Electrodiagnostic Medicine. He attended Winter Park High School and went on to play Division I tennis at Harvard University\, graduating with Honors with a degree in biomedical engineering. He earned his medical degree from the Wake Forest School of Medicine\, completed his internship at Wake Forest Baptist Health\, his residency in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) at Temple University Hospital/MossRehab\, and his fellowship in Sports Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. \nHis previous sports medicine experience includes mass event and team coverage at all levels\, from high school to professional\, including working with the Philadelphia 76ers (NBA)\, Philadelphia Flyers (NHL)\, Philadelphia Eagles (NFL)\, University of Pennsylvania athletics (NCAA Division I)\, and several high schools in the Philadelphia area. \nDr. Kiymaz is a member of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine\, American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation\, and the American Association of Neuromuscular & Electrodiagnostic Medicine. This annual event is celebrated by tens of thousands of active older adults across the country\, and we’re excited to bring the event to you. \nAt our event\, our team of health and wellbeing professionals will share educational and inspiring messages to encourage you on your personal wellbeing journey. We’ll also guide you through a calming and empowering tai chi demonstration\, followed by a lively and interactive panel discussion moderated by Patrick Faulk\, Center Director at the Crosby Wellness Center\, featuring several experts including: Trevor Hicks\, DPT\, Senior Director of Clinical Integration at the Winter Park Health Foundation; Megan Burditt\, Wellness Navigator at the Crosby Wellness Center; Karla Radka\, President and CEO of Senior Resource Alliance; Board-Certified Family Medicine Physician Madhumita Lettman\, DO\, of AdventHealth Well 65+; and Liz Kitchens\, author and teaching artist. \nPlus\, we will be serving nourishing\, delicious and healthy lifestyle refreshments\, provided by Nourish Coffee Bar + Kitchen. We’ll also be raffling off several great prizes from our Center for Health & Wellbeing partners. \nThis program is hosted by the Winter Park Health Foundation in partnership with Crosby Wellness Center. \nAbout the Presenters:    \nPatrick Faulk is the Center Director for the Crosby Wellness Center. Prior to joining the team at Crosby Patrick\, spent the last 13 years with AdventHealth in their Institute for Lifestyle Medicine in Celebration\, FL. Starting as a Personal Trainer and Member Services Representative\, Patrick advanced to the role of Senior Manager of Clinical and Retail Operations where he oversaw the operations of the Wellness Center\, Executive Health Program and Lifestyle Clinic. Patrick is a lifelong resident of Central Florida and holds a degree in Applied Physiology & Kinesiology from the University of Florida. He holds multiple certifications in the Fitness & Wellness Industry and is an avid golfer in his spare time. \nTrevor Hicks is a Doctor of Physical Therapy with a decade of clinical experience in orthopedics and neurological care prior to becoming the Senior Director of Clinical Integration for the Winter Park Health Foundation. His main focus is community-based initiatives that center around community health and wellbeing\, while also leveraging his expertise to bridge the gaps between healthcare and holistic wellness practices. He is passionate about optimizing quality of care and quality of life simultaneously. In 2023\, he led the Winter Park Health Foundation’s efforts to launch wellTogether\, a community health initiative that offers a clinically integrated approach to sustainable\, long-term health improvement through a focus on three Pillars: Fitness\, Behavior Change\, and Nutrition. \nMegan Burditt is passionate about bridging the gap between healthcare and fitness and working in medically integrated programs. She received a bachelors in Exercise Science from USF and is a registered Exercise Physiologist with the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). In Tampa Bay\, she gained experience in corporate/worksite health promotion and hospital-based medical fitness programs with BayCare Health System. Her passion lies in empowering individuals and doctors to utilize exercise for disease management and prevention. She was recently promoted to Wellness Navigator at the Crosby Wellness Center\, and she will be overseeing the fitness Pillar of the new\, comprehensive wellTogether program. \nMadhumita Lettman\, DO\, is a board-certified family medicine physician who provides compassionate\, whole-person care to seniors at AdventHealth Well 65+ Winter Park. Dr. Lettman is an active member of the American Osteopathic Association and the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians. She is passionate about preventative medicine\, mental health\, and working with all patients toward their own individualized health goals. \nIn more than two decades of public service\, Karla Radka has been a tireless advocate\, leader\, and agent for positive change in Central Florida. Since taking the helm of Senior Resource Alliance in 2019\, she has also been instrumental in expanding access to services that support dignity\, wellness\, and independence throughout life.Karla previously held leadership roles at Goodwill Industries of Central Florida\, Florida Family Care\, and Community Based Care of Central Florida\, a child welfare nonprofit. She also founded Public Allies Central Florida\, a nationally recognized program\, and served as its executive director until 2014. In her personal life\, she supports charitable causes as a volunteer\, consultant\, board member and leader. In 2004\, she co-founded Hope Now International\, a charity organization serving diverse humanitarian causes in Central Florida and around the world. She has also served on the boards of MetroPlan Orlando\, Community Health Centers\, The Collective\, Homeless Services Network of Central Florida\, and regional Commissions on Aging. \nLiz Kitchens is the author of “Be Brave. Lose the Beige: Finding Your Sass After Sixty\,” published in May of 2023 by She Writes Press. Her book and blog\, Be Brave. Lose the Beige\, focus on issues facing Lady Boomers (women of the Baby Boomer generation). Liz conducts workshops and seminars on creativity and directed a creative arts program for teens in underserved communities. She has also been a market researcher for thirty-five years and is the founder of What’s Next Boomer? a website dedicated to helping Baby Boomers navigate retirement options; She is a contributing writer for the online magazine\, Sixty and Me\, and has been published in various online and print publications. She is married\, the mother of three adult children\, and the grandmother of three grandchildren.

Hosted by plant-based\, certified ACE health coach Julie Ward\, you will learn techniques and tips for introducing raw desserts into your diet. \nThere is no heating involved\, so these treats will also maintain their original whole food nutrient dense value. Julie will be using some nuts in the recipes. Nuts and seeds are a great source of heart-healthy fats\, fiber and protein\, and they pack a number of vitamins and minerals.
