Issen is a licensed mental health counselor and registered nurse. She is recently retired as the outpatient counselor at Orlando Health/UF Health Cancer Center. For several years\, Issen coordinated the Sage-ing Center\, a program which encourages and supports adults of all ages\, but particularly those in the second half of life\, to inventory\, evaluate and intentionally plan a life of purpose\, learning\, fulfillment and community service. She brought this comprehensive program to the hospice several years ago and developed Hospice of the Comforter’s Quality of Life Education Program. \nIssen has taught Psychology at the college level and has worked in the field of Health and Wellness for more than 35 years\, including more than 10 years as a hospice nurse and counselor. Her areas of specialty include stress management\, grief and loss\, end-of-life\, aging and relationship issues\, Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy and Positive Psychology. \nShe has a Master of Science in Clinical Psychology from the University of Central Florida. Beyond her professional life\, Issen is an “extreme gardener\,” volunteers at a local animal shelter and performs with local singing and theatre groups.

She was co-owner of Good Life Cafe and Catering\, a sustainable food business from 1996 to 2013. She is a 2009 Archibald Bush Foundation Leadership Fellow and completed her Master of Public Health degree in Nutrition at the University of Minnesota in 2011 while working to build strong networks within health and food systems for greater access to food\, support for sustainable farming\, and understanding of cooking as a health strategy. Her first cookbook\, Cooking up the Good Life\, emphasizes local\, seasonal whole foods cooking for families and was released in April of 2011 from the University of Minnesota Press. \nChef Breen currently teaches three courses at the University of Minnesota\, including an online undergraduate course called “Food Choices: Healing the Earth\, Healing Ourselves” and a graduate level cooking course for health professional students called “Food Matters: Cook Like Your Life Depends on It\,” both through the Bakken Center. She also teaches an undergraduate nutrition cooking class\, “A Food Systems Approach to Cooking” through the Healthy Foods\, Healthy Lives Institute in College of Food\, Agricultural\, and Natural Resource Sciences (CFANS). She contracts as a Public Health culinary nutrition educator with local health departments\, school districts and nonprofit food and farming organizations.

A cancer survivor herself\, she provides compassionate\, holistic\, integrative and state of the art medical care. She is especially known for her expertise in radical debulking surgeries to remove advanced tumors and has a passion for cancer research. Dr. McKenzie\, who speaks four languages fluently\, earned her medical degree with research honors in New York; completed residency and fellowship at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital & Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. She also earned her Master of Science in Public Health and Epidemiology with honors while completing her fellowship training after which she was inducted into the Honor Society of graduate and professional schools. She has received numerous awards and has been voted by medical staff as best physician colleague. She brought this comprehensive program to the hospice several years ago and developed Hospice of the Comforter’s Quality of Life Education Program. Issen has taught Psychology at the college level and has worked in the field of health and wellness for more than 35 years\, including more than 10 years as a hospice nurse and counselor. Her areas of specialty include Stress Management\, Grief and Loss\, End-of-Life\, Aging and Relationship Issues\, and Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy and Positive Psychology. Beyond her professional life\, Issen is an “extreme gardener\,” volunteers at a local animal shelter and performs with local singing and theatre groups.

Currently\, he is the president and CEO of the Medical Fitness Association (MFA). Previously\, Flench was the director of wellness centers and diabetes centers at healthcare facilities in Indiana and Florida. He obtained his Master of Business Administration from Franklin University in Columbus\, Ohio and his Bachelor of Science with a concentration in Exercise Science from Ohio State University in Columbus\, Ohio. He also has achieved a range of certifications including Six Sigma Green Belt\, American College of Sports Medicine certified Exercise Physiologist (ACSM-cEP) and ACSM Level 2 Exercise in Medicine\, certified Health Care Manager by the Indiana Hospital Association\, and board certified in Healthcare Management as a Fellow of ACHE\, demonstrating that he is committed to furthering the medical fitness industry. Flench previously served as chairman of the board for MFA\, and spent time on the Certification\, Education\, Conference\, Budget & Finance\, Ethics\, and Nominating Committees with MFA.

The number 108 symbolizes universal love\, eternity and awaken. If you prefer to be left out of the program’s recording\, please leave your camera and microphone off for the duration of the program. \nAbout the Program Presenter \nJenny Breen has been a professional chef and advocate for sustainable food systems and food justice\, and has worked directly with farmers and producers in the Twin Cities area of Minnesota since the mid-1980’s. She was co-owner of Good Life Cafe and Catering\, a sustainable food business from 1996 to 2013. She is a 2009 Archibald Bush Foundation Leadership Fellow and completed her Master of Public Health degree in Nutrition at the University of Minnesota in 2011 while working to build strong networks within health and food systems for greater access to food\, support for sustainable farming\, and understanding of cooking as a health strategy. Her first cookbook\, Cooking up the Good Life\, emphasizes local\, seasonal whole foods cooking for families and was released in April of 2011 from the University of Minnesota Press. \nChef Breen currently teaches three courses at the University of Minnesota\, including an online undergraduate course called “Food Choices: Healing the Earth\, Healing Ourselves” and a graduate level cooking course for health professional students called “Food Matters: Cook Like Your Life Depends on It\,” both through the Bakken Center. She also teaches an undergraduate nutrition cooking class\, “A Food Systems Approach to Cooking” through the Healthy Foods\, Healthy Lives Institute in College of Food\, Agricultural\, and Natural Resource Sciences (CFANS). She contracts as a Public Health culinary nutrition educator with local health departments\, school districts and nonprofit food and farming organizations.

She developed her horticultural skills while living for four years at Nehrling Gardens\, a historic botanical garden in Gotha\, Florida. Since 2015\, Caroline has served as program manager to Fleet Farming\, an urban agriculture program that transforms lawns into farms. She also acts as chief administrative officer to IDEAS For Us\, which develops\, funds\, and scales environmental action projects in the focus areas of energy\, water\, food\, waste and ecology. When she is not farming\, she is honored to be the gardening teacher at Inspiring Minds Day School\, teaching children about the wonders of the natural world.

She received her Bachelor of Science in Space Sciences from Florida Institute of Technology in 1999\, her MS in Geological Sciences at Brown University in 2010\, and her PhD in Geological Sciences from Brown University in 2013. Dr. Donaldson Hanna was a postdoctoral researcher within the Atmospheric\, Oceanic\, and Planetary Physics sub-department at the University of Oxford before receiving a UK Space Agency Aurora Research Fellowship to continue her research at Oxford for an additional 3.5 years. While at Oxford\, she held a Junior Research Fellowship at Christ Church College and was awarded the early career Winton Capital Geophysics Award from the Royal Astronomical Society.

Issen has a Master of Science in Clinical Psychology from the University of Central Florida\, and is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor\, as well as a Registered Nurse. She is recently retired as the outpatient counselor at Orlando Health/UFHealth Cancer Center. For several years\, Issen coordinated the Sage-ing Center\, a program which encourages and supports adults of all ages\, but particularly those in the second half of life\, to inventory\, evaluate and intentionally plan a life of purpose\, learning\, fulfillment and community service. Issen brought this comprehensive program to the hospice several years ago and developed Hospice of the Comforter’s Quality of Life Education Program. She has taught psychology at the college level and has worked in the field of health and wellness for over 35 years\, including over 10 years as a hospice nurse and counselor. Her areas of specialty include stress management\, grief and loss\, end-of-life\, aging and relationship issues\, Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy and Positive Psychology. Beyond her professional life\, Issen is an “extreme gardener\,” volunteers at a local animal shelter and performs with local singing and theatre groups.
