She acts as chief administrative officer to IDEAS For Us\, a non-profit organization located in Orlando\, FL\, that develops\, funds and scales environmental action projects in the focus areas of energy\, water\, food\, waste\, and ecology. When she is not farming\, Chomanics is honored to be the gardening teacher at Inspiring Minds Day School\, teaching children about the wonders of the natural world. \nShe developed her horticultural skills while living for four years at Nehrling Gardens\, a historic botanical garden\, in Gotha\, Florida. He attended Florida State University earning a master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning\, with an emphasis on economics and the environment. DESCRIPTION:Join us in person for Mindfulness and Meditation: Letting Go and Gratitude on Tuesday\, February 1 at 7 PM in Community Conference Room B.\n\n\nSpecial Note: Participants are encouraged to attend each week session of the four-week program\, but it is not a requirement. You may sign up for any of the four programs without attending the others.  \nThis four-week program with Meditation Instructor Camille Sacco will introduce you to the concepts of mindfulness and meditation. You’ll learn practical tips and simple tools to transform your home and work life into the place it deserves to be. Each week\, you’ll learn a little something different about mindfulness and meditation. \nIn order to cultivate a true understanding and get the most out of your practice\, it’s important for your mind to be open and receptive. This will ensure that learning and change can occur. The attitude you bring to your practice is crucial. It is the soil in which we will effectively cultivate daily practices that will inspire confidence in the pursuit of living our lives with a higher purpose. \nDuring each session\, you will discuss two attitudes and how they relate to mindfulness. You’ll also practice a meditation each week and leave time at the end of the class for discussion and takeaways. Together\, this will constitute the foundation upon which you will be able to build a strong mindful meditation practice of your own. \nIn week one\, you will cover: \n\nAttitudes: Letting Go and Gratitude\nMeditation: Lovingkindness Meditation\n\n\nAttendees can sit in a chair or on the floor for this program. Participants are encouraged to bring a yoga mat\, towel\, or small blanket; chairs will be available for those who prefer to use one. The room can also be cool during this program\, so cold-sensitive participants may also want to bring a light jacket or sweater. She served as the keynote speaker for the 2021 YWCA Great Lakes Bay Region Empowerment Symposium. Chesny’s work has been published in Harness Magazine\, and she has been featured in Made Magazine\, Insider\, and in several news stories. Her forthcoming book\, Dear Zora\, chronicles her journey into becoming a Zora scholar through research and travels while developing a love for the prolific writer in letter form conversations. DESCRIPTION:Join us in person for Mindfulness and Meditation: Beginner’s Mind and Trust on Tuesday\, January 18 at 7 PM in Community Conference Room B.\n\n\nSpecial Note: Participants are encouraged to attend each week session of the four-week program\, but it is not a requirement. You may sign up for any of the four programs without attending the others.  \nThis four-week program with Meditation Instructor Camille Sacco will introduce you to the concepts of mindfulness and meditation. You’ll learn practical tips and simple tools to transform your home and work life into the place it deserves to be. Each week\, you’ll learn a little something different about mindfulness and meditation. \nIn order to cultivate a true understanding and get the most out of your practice\, it’s important for your mind to be open and receptive. This will ensure that learning and change can occur. The attitude you bring to your practice is crucial. It is the soil in which we will effectively cultivate daily practices that will inspire confidence in the pursuit of living our lives with a higher purpose. \nDuring each session\, you will discuss two attitudes and how they relate to mindfulness. You’ll also practice a meditation each week and leave time at the end of the class for discussion and takeaways. Together\, this will constitute the foundation upon which you will be able to build a strong mindful meditation practice of your own. \nIn week two\, you will cover: \n\nAttitudes: Beginner’s Mind and Trust\nMeditation: Body Scan\n\n\nAttendees can sit in a chair or on the floor for this program. Issen has a Master of Science in Clinical Psychology from the University of Central Florida\, and is a licensed mental health counselor\, as well as a registered nurse. She is recently retired as the outpatient counselor at Orlando Health/UF Health Cancer Center. For several years\, she coordinated the Sage-ing Center\, a program which encourages and supports adults of all ages\, but particularly those in the second half of life\, to inventory\, evaluate and intentionally plan a life of purpose\, learning\, fulfillment and community service. She brought this comprehensive program to the hospice several years ago and developed Hospice of the Comforter’s Quality of Life Education Program. Issen has taught Psychology at the college level and has worked in the field of health and wellness for more than 35 years\, including more than 10 years as a hospice nurse and counselor. Her areas of specialty include Stress Management\, Grief and Loss\, End-of-Life\, Aging and Relationship Issues\, and Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy and Positive Psychology. Beyond her professional life\, Issen is an “extreme gardener\,” volunteers at a local animal shelter and performs with local singing and theatre groups.

A cancer survivor herself\, she provides compassionate\, holistic\, integrative and state of the art medical care. She is especially known for her expertise in radical debulking surgeries to remove advanced tumors and has a passion for cancer research. Dr. McKenzie\, who speaks four languages fluently\, earned her medical degree with research honors in New York; completed residency and fellowship at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital & Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. She also earned her Master of Science in Public Health and Epidemiology with honors while completing her fellowship training after which she was inducted into the Honor Society of graduate and professional schools. She has received numerous awards and has been voted by medical staff as best physician colleague. Her innovative research initiatives during the early part of her career resulted in research funding awards and recognition. Most recently Dr. Mckenzie was selected as one of 16 oncologists from all over the united states and the world to undergo extensive leadership training with the premier oncology society\, ASCO. As a graduate of this leadership development program\, she sits on national committees that monitor and provide guidance to oncology practices throughout the country. DESCRIPTION:Join us in person for Mindfulness and Meditation: Non-striving and Patience on Tuesday\, January 11 at 7 PM in Community Conference Room B.\n\n\nSpecial Note: Participants are encouraged to attend each week session of the four-week program\, but it is not a requirement. You may sign up for any of the four programs without attending the others.  \nThis four-week program with Meditation Instructor Camille Sacco will introduce you to the concepts of mindfulness and meditation. You’ll learn practical tips and simple tools to transform your home and work life into the place it deserves to be. Each week\, you’ll learn a little something different about mindfulness and meditation. \nIn order to cultivate a true understanding and get the most out of your practice\, it’s important for your mind to be open and receptive. This will ensure that learning and change can occur. The attitude you bring to your practice is crucial. It is the soil in which we will effectively cultivate daily practices that will inspire confidence in the pursuit of living our lives with a higher purpose. \nDuring each session\, you will discuss two attitudes and how they relate to mindfulness. You’ll also practice a meditation each week and leave time at the end of the class for discussion and takeaways. Together\, this will constitute the foundation upon which you will be able to build a strong mindful meditation practice of your own. \nIn week one\, you will cover: \n\nAttitudes: Non-striving and Patience.\nMeditation: Awareness of Breath\n\n\nAttendees can sit in a chair or on the floor for this program. DESCRIPTION:Join us in person for Your Health and Wellbeing: An Individual Quest to Building the Best You every Thursday from January 6 to January 27.\n\n\nSpecial Note: By registering for this program\, you are agreeing to attend all sessions in the series. \nDid you know that each of our educational programs at the Center for Health & Wellbeing (CHWB) is designed through the lens of the Seven Dimensions of Wellbeing: Physical\, Intellectual\, Environmental\, Vocational\, Social\, Emotional\, and Spiritual wellbeing? These dimensions are our North Star of true wellbeing and guide and focus on our work. \nWhy is this our approach? Research shows that a balance among the Seven Dimensions of Wellbeing leads to a fuller\, more satisfying life – something we want every person to experience. This class\, led by CHWB Wellbeing Guide Sara Wright\, is an in-depth look at those Seven Dimensions of Wellbeing. During this four part interactive series that provides strategies and tactics to assist in your individualized quest of building the best\, healthiest you\, you’ll learn how each dimension’s distinct characteristics correlate and contribute to your whole-person health and wellbeing. \nEach week\, we will cover the following dimensions of wellbeing: \nWeek 1: Physical Wellbeing \nWeek 2: Social and Emotional Wellbeing \nWeek 3: Vocational and Environmental Wellbeing \nWeek 4: Intellectual andSpiritual Wellbeing \nThis program is presented by Sara Wright and hosted by the Winter Park Health Foundation. \nA note regarding COVID-19 safety protocols: At this time\, all guests at the Center for Health & Wellbeing are required to wear masks in all indoor spaces\, including during our education programs. Presenters may remove their masks in order to be better heard by audience members. Attendees\, however\, must keep their masks fully in place (covering the nose and mouth) during the entire presentation. In accordance with CHWB guidelines\, our programs will also be limited in capacity and rooms set to account for social distancing. \nCancelling Your Reservation: If you are unable to attend a program\, cancelling your reservation gives us an accurate count of how many to expect; for sold-out programs\, cancelling your reservation also allows someone on the waitlist to attend in your place. Cancelling your reservation for this program is especially important as we are currently limiting capacities as part of our COVID-19 safety regulations. Cancelling can be done in two easy ways: by calling 407.644.2492 and selecting Option 1\, then Option 3 to speak to a representative or by using the online ticket cancellation option in your original confirmation email from Eventbrite. \nBy participating in this program\, you agree to CHWB’s Gracious Space policy. \nAbout the Program Presenter \nSara Wright joined the Winter Park Health Foundation in March 2019 and serves as the Wellbeing Guide for the Center for Health & Wellbeing. She works directly with community members providing wellbeing coaching and consultation. \nWright makes suggestions\, provides educational resources\, and links each person to programs and services suited to attain health and wellbeing goals safely and smartly. She also creates an individualized plan and provides motivational support as each community member works to achieve success along their personal wellbeing journey. Wright has more than 20 years of professional experience\, including the following areas of expertise: Social Services\, Health Education\, Community Relations\, Management\, Personal Training\, and Fitness Coaching. She earned a master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling and two bachelor’s degrees. She is passionate about helping others reach their goals and achieve self-empowerment.
