SUMMARY:Out of Africa (Webinar)
DESCRIPTION:Join us for Out of Africa (Webinar) on Tuesday\, March 9 at 7 PM.\n\n\nMeerkats\, sawgrass\, deserts and predators of all sorts\, experience Africa through the eyes of veteran traveler and award-winning nature photographer Betty Wasicek. In this multimedia program\, join Wasicek to learn about the endangered and critically endangered species within seven countries in Africa. Much of the wildlife featured in her imagery is on the International Union for Conservation of Nature’s Red List\, a list of species at high risk of global extinction. \nBy participating in this program\, you can expect to learn about: \n\nextraordinarily wonderful countries\, native cultures\, and a list of endangered and/or highly endangered wildlife that invites and encourages tourism;\nthe alarmingly-high annual numeric decrease of wildlife at all levels\, as a result of human encroachment\, habitat loss and poaching;\nthe need to recognize the importance of helping to preserve the species and protect it for the world to see\, making a safe haven for future generations to enjoy in lieu of historical pictures of what was.\n\nThis program is presented by Betty Wasicek and is hosted by the Winter Park Health Foundation. \nHow to join the Zoom Program: \nUpon registration for this program\, you will receive two emails: \n• One email from Eventbrite: you can either disregard this email or save it for your records. No action needed with this message. \n• One email from the Center for Health & Wellbeing: this email will contain your link to join the Zoom meeting. If you prefer to be left out of the program’s recording\, please leave your camera and microphone off for the duration of the program. \nAbout Your Program Presenter \nBetty Wasicek is a veteran traveler and award-winning nature photographer. Her images — both wildlife and underwater — have won multiple awards\, among them several from the National Geographic Traveler. Her interest in photography began with her mother’s Brownie camera in the early 1960’s when her parents gave her a high school graduation trip to east Africa to witness the great wildebeest and zebra migration from the plains of Masai Mara\, Kenya into the Serengeti in Tanzania. Africa whetted her appetite and drew her back regularly thereafter. Her avid interest in animal photography may have begun in Africa with her mother’s old Brownie camera\, but developed into an all-encompassing interest in nature and underwater photography. In the 1960’s\, as an avocation and because of her love of the ocean and underwater critters\, she became a serious certified scuba diver and YMCA scuba diving instructor\, which led to underwater photography. Wasicek was determined to become an ambassador not only for the underwater life but wildlife in general — large and small.

SUMMARY:Habits and Rituals for Mindful\, Resilient Couples (Webinar)
DESCRIPTION:Join us for Habits and Rituals for Mindful\, Resilient Couples (Webinar) on Thursday\, February 25 at 7 PM.\n\n\nOur lives are the sum of our habits. We typically do the same things\, day in and day out. This is especially true of our relationships. Whether you’ve been with your partner for a few months or a few decades\, no doubt your relationship has become somewhat automated. That’s because automation is a normal process for our species. When the brain senses patterns in our behaviors\, it automates and habituates them to free up energy and focus on other neuronal pursuits. \nThe trouble is\, all of this automation doesn’t necessarily produce the attention\, connection and affection you and your partner desire. The good news is that you can use the power of the mindless mind — the habit mind — to create habits that help you become more present\, connected and thoughtful with your partner. Good relationships have good relationship habits. In this program\, Certified Mindfulness Teacher Kristen Manieri will help you create habits and rituals that help you connect to and engage with your partner with intention and presence. You’ll learn habits you and your partner can create on a daily\, weekly\, monthly\, quarterly basis that keeps you two happily and mindfully attuned to each other. \nBy participating in this program\, you can expect to learn: \n\nwhy healthy relationship habits matter;\nhow to create healthy relationship habits;\nand rituals we can use on a daily\, weekly and quarterly basis to feel more loved and connected.\n\nThis program is presented by Kristen Manieri and is hosted by the Winter Park Health Foundation. \nHow to join the Zoom Program: \nUpon registration for this program\, you will receive two emails: \n• One email from Eventbrite: you can either disregard this email or save it for your records. SUMMARY:The Times They Are A-Changin’- How Protest Music Shaped America (Webinar)
DESCRIPTION:Join us for The Times They Are A-Changin’- How Protest Music Shaped America (Webinar) on Monday\, February 22 at 11 AM.\n\n\nMusic has always advanced the agenda of change. While rock ’n’ roll artists did not invent the concept of protest music\, artists like Chuck Berry\, Eddie Cochran and Bob Dylan helped shape the changing of America in the last half of the 20th century. Join William McKeen\, Boston University professor and American author of “Rock and Roll is Here to Stay\,” in this seminar as he shares how rock ‘n’ roll music shaped society and how the genre is still impacting protesting in America. \nThis program is presented by William McKeen and is hosted by the Winter Park Health Foundation. \nHow to join the Zoom Program: \nUpon registration for this program\, you will receive two emails: \nOne email from Eventbrite: you can either disregard this email or save it for your records.
