SUMMARY:Sound Bowl Healing
DESCRIPTION:Experience this unique form of meditation for yourself with Crosby Wellness Center’s Nicole Elliott.\n\n\nJoin experienced sound healing practitioners from the Peggy & Philip B. Crosby Wellness Center at the Center for Health & Wellbeing for a relaxing guided meditation and sound healing experience. \nThe use of sound therapy has existed across cultures and throughout history to promote health and wellbeing. Research shows that sound healing therapy can minimize and relieve pain\, stimulate the immune system\, reduce stress and improve mental and emotional clarity. \nParticipants will be guided through meditation in a seated or reclined position and experience a crystal bowl sound bath. As you relax\, crystal bowls resonate with the crystalline structure of your cells to balance your body’s electromagnetic field\, cleanse and strengthen the energy you radiate\, and promote a deeper sense of calm. \nSpecial Instructions: Attendees are encouraged to sit or recline on the floor for this program. Participants are encouraged to bring a yoga mat\, towel\, or small blanket; chairs will be available for those who prefer to use one. The room can also be cool during this program\, so cold-sensitive participants may also want to bring a light jacket or sweater. All attendees are also encouraged to bring their own bottles of water. \nThis program is presented by Nicole Elliott and is hosted by the Winter Park Health Foundation in partnership with the Crosby Wellness Center. \nAbout the Presenter: \nNicole Elliott is a Yoga Alliance certified meditation guide and yoga instructor. Her intention is to create a peaceful space to practice mindfulness and wellbeing.

SUMMARY:Crystal Bowl Sound Meditation for Community + Connection
DESCRIPTION:Join Certified Meditation Instructor Camille Sacco for community + connection throughout the month.\n\n\nJoin Certified Meditation Instructor Camille Sacco for community + connection\, and to learn the basics of meditation and to experience a crystal bowl sound bath. \nPart meditation\, part listening exercise\, Sound Baths are healing musical performances played with crystal singing bowls and chimes. They can be very therapeutic because you are literally bathed in sound waves\, where you will enter a state of deep relaxation. Sound baths help facilitate shifts in our brainwaves by using entrainment. Entrainment synchronizes our brainwaves by providing a stable frequency which the brainwaves can attune to. By listening to the rhythm and frequencies of the crystal bowls\, we can downshift our normal beta state (normal waking consciousness) to alpha (relaxed consciousness) and even reach theta (meditative state) where profound learning\, healing and growth can occur. \nThis sound healing experience is designed to clear and release negative energy\, open your heart\, and promote a quieter state of mind. The harmonious sounds are created to support your body’s natural healing processes while you recline on blankets and pillows. After the session\, you’ll leave feeling mentally and physically rested\, ready to enjoy the peace and tranquility of a healthy mind\, body and spirit. \nSpecial Instructions: Attendees can sit in a chair or on the floor for this program. \nSpecial note: Beginning in 2024\, we will be charging a small fee for some of Camille’s meditation classes. The first session of each month will remain free\, so please use that as an opportunity to introduce friends to the practice of mindfulness and meditation. Space is limited so please reserve your spot for the free community class each month; and if you book a spot and can no longer attend\, please cancel your reservation to allow someone from our wait list to share in this experience. \nThis program is presented by Camille Sacco and hosted by the Winter Park Health Foundation. \nAbout the Presenter:    \nCamille Sacco is an American Institute of Health Care Professionals Mindfulness Coach and meditation instructor. She is also a graduate of the acclaimed Palouse Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Course. Camille is the author of two self-help books\, “Hippiebanker: Bringing Peace\, Love and Spirituality to the Workplace” and her latest book\, “Firefly Culture: Illuminate Your Workplace by Tuning in to Mindfulness.” She leads fun and informative classes and workshops on mindful meditations and her coaching sessions are infused with down-to-Earth guidance. SUMMARY:CHWB Book Club
DESCRIPTION:For our September Book Club selection\, bring your recent favorite book to discuss.\n\n\nA book club can have several goals at once\, including the social aspect of getting together with others in a relaxed setting and the focused activity of discussing various elements of a particular book that everyone in the group has (mostly) read. A survey by BookBrowse of over 5\,500 individuals engaged in book clubs across the country reported that survey responders highlighted both the value of discussion focused on the chosen book AND the social nature of the group. \nOur CHWB Book Club facilitator Dr. Annette Kelly\, an avid reader and founder and recently retired Board President of Neighbors Network\, aims to help you do both! \nSo\, what’s the last great book you read? Did it inspire you? Entertain you? Help you make improvements to your daily health and wellbeing? Make you look at the world just a little bit differently? Do you tell your friends they really should read this one? \nFor our September Book Club selection\, bring your recent favorite book or tell us about an author you really love and join in the sharing of other great reads. You’ll enjoy our spoiler-free discussion of CHWB Book Club attendees’ book recommendations and perhaps discover your next favorite. Feel free to bring along suggestions for both fiction and non-fiction books. \nThis program is presented by Annette Kelly and is hosted by the Winter Park Health Foundation. \nAbout the Presenter:    \nAnnette Kelly\, Ph.D.\, retired as the board president of Neighbors Network\, a local non-profit\, whose mission is the independence\, engagement\, and connectedness of older adults in our community. Annette writes the monthly column “The View From Here” in our local Community Paper.  She is a retired nurse practitioner and nursing professor. Kelly is an avid reader who has been married to Jerry for 61 years and enjoys gardening\, painting\, and spending time with her family and friends.

SUMMARY:Projective Dreamworks: A Four-Part Series
DESCRIPTION:Puzzled by your dreams? With Judy Minear\, a projective dream work expert\, you’ll unpack the symbolic language of the “theater of the night”.\n\n\nA note about this program series: After registering for the first class in this four-part series\, attendees are expected to attend all four sessions (October 3\, 10\, 17\, & 24) in order to gain the most out of this program. If you cannot attend all four sessions\, please allow someone else to register for this limited-capacity program. \nAre you puzzled by your dreams? With Judy Minear\, a projective dream work expert with a decade of experience in dream group facilitation\, you’ll unpack the symbolic language of the “theater of the night.” Over the course of four group sessions\, you will build on the basic tenet that all dreams come in the service of health and wholeness. As you mine the wisdom expressed in your dreams\, you’ll build a better relationship with yourself and others. Dreams offer guidance\, clues\, inspiration and multiple meanings. The group process provides a supportive path to unearth the clues from our own unconscious. \nIn this series\, you can expect to learn: \n• How to improve dream recall \n• Two methods of working a dream \n• How to tap into the depths of symbols \nProgram notes: Please bring notes about a recent dream to class\, even if it is a fragment. The class is based on the seminal work of Jeremy Taylor. His book “The Wisdom of Your Dreams” is helpful but not necessary. \nThis program is presented by Judy Minear and is hosted by the Winter Park Health Foundation. \nAbout the Presenter: \nJudy Minear has participated in Dream groups for over 20 years. She attended the annual Haden Summer Dream Conference for seven years. She has been the current facilitator for an ongoing dream group for seven years. She studied with Jeremy Taylor as well as others who have been instrumental in the International Association for the Study of Dreams. She credits her curiosity for her deep interest in dreams. Unpacking dream symbols and working with shadows feels like a calling to her. After multiple experiences in Egypt\, she developed an active interest in the mysteries. She has offered this class at the Rollins STARS venue as well as the Winter Park Library. She brings a deep understanding as well as a warmth and a sense of humor to the process of Projective Dream Work.
