With a Master of Science degree in Sport and Exercise Science\, Danielle has 10 years of experience in health and fitness coaching. \nWhile attending the University of Central Florida (UCF)\, Danielle fell in love with her daily workouts and resources available to her at the campus Wellness Center to manage the stress of a busy schedule. She decided to change majors and pursue a career in fitness\, so that she could extend her enthusiasm and knowledge to others hoping that they too\, would grow to have a passion for health and fitness. \nFollowing her time at UCF\, she has continued to call Orlando her home\, and extend her portfolio to include certification as an ACE Certified Health Coach\, RRCA Endurance Running Coach and ACSM Exercise Physiologist among others. \nDanielle believes that health and wellness is achievable for all and strives to help others through fitness coaching and health education. A cancer survivor herself\, she provides compassionate\, holistic\, integrative and state of the art medical care. She is especially known for her expertise in radical debulking surgeries to remove advanced tumors and has a passion for cancer research. Dr. McKenzie\, who speaks four languages fluently\, earned her medical degree with research honors in New York; completed residency and fellowship at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital & Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. She also earned her Master of Science in Public Health and Epidemiology with honors while completing her fellowship training after which she was inducted into the Honor Society of graduate and professional schools. She has received numerous awards and has been voted by medical staff as best physician colleague. Her innovative research initiatives during the early part of her career resulted in research funding awards and recognition. Most recently Dr. Mckenzie was selected as one of 16 oncologists from all over the united states and the world to undergo extensive leadership training with the premier oncology society\, ASCO. As a graduate of this leadership development program\, she sits on national committees that monitor and provide guidance to oncology practices throughout the country. With a passion for teaching\, she serves as the current Program Director of Gynecologic Oncology Fellowship and has affiliate faculty appointments with the FSU and UCF Colleges of Medicine through which she regularly mentors students and residents. In addition to teaching and research\, Dr. Mckenzie also sits on numerous boards for charity organizations\, goes on surgical missions to impoverished areas internationally and frequently lectures nationally and internationally.

For example\, finding ways to incorporate simple stretches into your daily routine offers respite from tight muscles and fosters positive feelings that improve physical wellbeing. \nIn honor of Stress Awareness Month experts from AdventHealth and the Center for Health & Wellbeing will dive into the physical and emotional impact while sharing ways to manage – and thrive – life’s stressful situations. \nFirst\, Dr. Luis Allen\, a psychiatry specialist at AdventHealth’s Center for Behavioral Health\, will cover the long-term effects of stress on your body and answer your questions on stress management. \nThen\, Sara Wright\, Wellbeing Guide at the Center for Health & Wellbeing and a personal trainer at the Crosby Wellness Center\, will guide you in a series of gentle stretches designed to promote relaxation and relief from everyday stressors. The stretches covered during this program are perfect for those hours sitting at home or at work. Dr. Allen has been associated with AdventHealth’s Center for Behavioral Health since 1997\, serving as its Medical Director since 1998. Dr. Allen is board certified in general and geriatric psychiatry and holds academic appointment at Florida State University\, Nova Southeastern University\, and St. Matthew’s University. He is a firm believer in community involvement and serves on the Board of Directors for the Alzheimer & Dementia Resource Center\, is a Maturing Minds™ advisory committee member\, and volunteers at Shepherd’s Hope\, a non-denominational health care organization. Dr. Allen holds additional training in Electro Convulsive Therapy and Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation\, both used as treatment resistant options to depression. \nAbout Sara Wright\, Wellbeing Guide for the Center for Health & Wellbeing and Personal Fitness for the Crosby Wellness Center  \nSara Wright serves as the wellbeing guide for the Center for Health and Wellbeing. She works directly with community members in administration of the Wellbeing Survey\, a diagnostic tool that encourages reflection on one’s overall wellbeing as related to the Seven Dimensions of Wellbeing (Intellectual\, Spiritual\, Physical\, Social\, Emotional\, Vocational\, Environmental.) Sara interprets the results of the Wellbeing Survey and creates an individualized plan to help each community member on their personal wellbeing journey. Sara has more than twenty years of professional experience including the following areas of expertise: social services\, health education\, community relations\, management\, personal training and fitness coaching. She earned a master’s degree in mental health counseling and two bachelor’s degrees. She is passionate about helping others reach their goals and achieve self-empowerment.

You’ll learn more about the intersection of food and medicine\, dive deep into the ways your food choices affect your health far beyond the numbers on your scale and learn easy recipes using new and interesting flavors and techniques. \nAbout the March Food as Medicine Session: It’s hardly news that our bodies are built like machines\, and what we put in them as fuel can affect how we run or feel as humans. But many of us may not know that the gastrointestinal tract has an impact on the health of our entire body. In this program led by Chef Collette Haw and Dr. Nathalie McKenzie\, a gynecologic oncologist board-certified in lifestyle medicine\, you’ll learn how the foods we eat affect the health of our gut. You’ll also learn the nutritional benefits of gut-healthy ingredients and how to incorporate them into your go-to foods. With an exceptional talent for taking a healthy ‘ho-hum’ to a flavor-rich ‘yum!’\, Chef Haw approaches the Nourish menu with a unique hybrid of her comfort-food-gone-healthy and ‘food as medicine’ philosophies. Prior to assuming her leadership role at Nourish\, Chef Haw spent several years operating her own successful meal delivery service out of Longwood—Collette’s Clean Eats—and as a private chef to a celebrity family in Atlanta. \nAbout Dr. Nathalie McKenzie\, MD\, AdventHealth \nDr. Nathalie Dauphin McKenzie is an award-winning gynecologic oncologist surgeon board-certified in gynecologic oncologist surgeonLifestyle Medicine with tremendous expertise and experience providing advanced surgical treatments including laparoscopic and robotic-assisted procedures for women with all types of gynecologic cancers. A cancer survivor herself\, she provides compassionate\, holistic\, integrative and state of the art medical care. She is especially known for her expertise in radical debulking surgeries to remove advanced tumors and has a passion for cancer research. Dr. McKenzie\, who speaks four languages fluently\, earned her medical degree with research honors in New York; completed residency and fellowship at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital & Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. She also earned her Master of Science in Public Health and Epidemiology with honors while completing her fellowship training after which she was inducted into the Honor Society of graduate and professional schools. She has received numerous awards and has been voted by medical staff as best physician colleague. Her innovative research initiatives during the early part of her career resulted in research funding awards and recognition. Most recently Dr. Mckenzie was selected as one of 16 oncologists from all over the united states and the world to undergo extensive leadership training with the premier oncology society\, ASCO. As a graduate of this leadership development program\, she sits on national committees that monitor and provide guidance to oncology practices throughout the country. With a passion for teaching\, she serves as the current Program Director of Gynecologic Oncology Fellowship and has affiliate faculty appointments with the FSU and UCF Colleges of Medicine through which she regularly mentors students and residents. In addition to teaching and research\, Dr. Mckenzie also sits on numerous boards for charity organizations\, goes on surgical missions to impoverished areas internationally and frequently lectures nationally and internationally.
