DESCRIPTION:Join us in 2024 for all-new conversations with some of Central Florida’s most talented performers and artists.\n\n\nJoin us in 2024 for all-new conversations with some of Central Florida’s most talented performers and artists. In our monthly Artists’ Series\, presented by Central Florida Vocal Arts\, you’ll enjoy a lunchtime performance from some of Central Florida’s top musicians and have the opportunity to learn about their process and passion. Bring your own lunch from home or pick up something from Nourish Coffee Bar + Kitchen on the way in. \nJoin us February 29 for a special performance from the multi-talented Brandon Kaufman. He’s been a musical director at various production companies\, singer and stage actor\, and a member of a jazz duo. \nThis program is presented by Central Florida Vocal Arts and is hosted by the Winter Park Health Foundation. \nAbout the Presenter:    \nFor the past 15 years\, Brandon Kaufman has found joy and fulfillment in music directing for professional\, community\, and educational performing arts and theatre programs. Crafting beautiful ensemble performances and fostering unique opportunities for personal musical growth are among his deepest career aspirations. \nA Savannah native\, Kaufman graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in music composition\, before returning to his hometown to work as the musical director for The Bay St Theatre\, Savannah Children’s Theatre\, Southeast Summer Theatre Institute\, and several other production companies and school programs in South Georgia. \nAlongside music directing for more than 100 productions over the course of his career\, Kaufman has also frequently performed as a singer and stage actor\, with past roles including Will Bloom in “Big Fish\,” Lord Farquaad in “Shrek\,” and Quasimodo in Disney’s “The Hunchback of Notre Dame.” Kaufman also maintains a private voice and piano studio\, alongside lessons he teaches at community music schools in the area. He also works regularly as a pianist and vocalist for local worship services\, and has previously been a staff accompanist for university music programs. \nWhile in Savannah\, he and his cousin Stefanie Selai formed the jazz duo “Sloe Gin Fizz\,” performing smooth standards\, familiar classics\, and Broadway favorites for numerous venues and special events in both Georgia and Florida. Having recently moved to the Orlando area\, Kaufman continues to musical direct for local theatre companies\, teach voice and piano\, and perform as a singer and actor with “Sloe Gin Fizz” and new drama programs.

We are creating a continuing life cycle for the vocal arts in Central Florida through a three-step model. The first step\, Education and Training\, introduces young artists to the arts. Through our educational initiatives\, we develop students’ talent\, passion\, and confidence.  Next\, our Mainstage Productions provide a transition period for students ages 8-18 and pre-professional adults to emerge on stage alongside local professional artists.  Our life cycle culminates with Opera del Sol\, offering innovative productions in unexpected places and challenging perceptions of who the operatic performer and audience members are and what defines the genre as a whole.
