SUMMARY:Lunch and Learn: Connect\, Repair and Recharge Your Relationships
DESCRIPTION:Join Licensed Mental Health Counselor Jill Hamilton Buss for an evening of connection\, fun\, learning and laughter.\n\n\nHumans are social animals; we need each other. Whether we’re in a relationship or living alone\, we can become disconnected\, which doesn’t just “feel bad\,” it can have startling physical consequences\, including an increased risk of heart disease\, stroke and developing dementia for older adults. In fact\, the risk for premature death of isolation and loneliness is comparable to smoking 15 cigarettes a day\, according to a recent U.S. Surgeon General report. \nJoin Licensed Mental Health Counselor Jill Hamilton Buss for an evening of connection\, fun\, learning and laughter. You’ll learn and experience evidence-based strategies to build and strengthen relationships to improve your overall wellbeing — and you’ll get to laugh\, too. \nIn this program\, you will learn quick\, effective ways to connect with your partner\, child an/or others (some methods take less than one minute!)\, how “tear and repair” works and actually strengthens relationships (it’s okay to quarrel\, fight or nag if you do this) and paradoxical interventions that bring you closer\, helping to create and restore connections that may have frayed in stressful times. \nWe invite you to bring a packed lunch or pick something up from Nourish Coffee Bar + Kitchen at the Center for Health & Wellbeing on your way into the program and use your lunch hour to improve your mental wellbeing. \nThis program is presented by Jill Hamilton Buss and is hosted by the Winter Park Health Foundation. \nAbout the Presenter: \nJill Hamilton Buss is a licensed mental health counselor who works with clients in a holistic way to create optimal wellbeing for mind and body. She offers traditional in-office psychotherapy\, life coaching and “Walk and Talk Therapy.” She previously served as the executive director of Healthy Central Florida\, an initiative to make our communities the healthiest in the nation. She holds master’s degrees from Rollins College and the University of Florida in Mental Health Counseling and Communications\, respectively\, and was named one of Winter Park’s Most Influential People in 2016. To learn more\, visit her website\, jillhamiltonbuss.com or email her at jill@jillhamiltonbuss.com. \nRegistration Note: \n  \nPlease note: As of August 2023\, when you register via Eventbrite for community education programs at the Center for Health & Wellbeing\, you are now required to accept our Waiver and Release as part of the Eventbrite checkout process.
