DESCRIPTION:Join Chris Hicks in our newest writing program\, From Page to Performance: Monologue Writing for Stage or Fiction.\n\n\nIn our latest writing program\, led by teaching artist Chris Hicks of Central Florida Community Arts\, it’s time to fulfill your playwright dreams! \nStrong characters are at the heart of plays as well as most fiction writing\, and it’s through the monologue that the audience gets to hear from those characters directly. In this workshop\, participants will learn a few simple techniques for writing a solid monologue. \nNo prior writing experience is necessary. Hicks\, a seasoned English and theatre teacher\, will walk you through the steps of putting pencil to paper and creating a piece of writing you’ll be proud to share with others. \nThis program is presented by Chris Hicks and is hosted by the Winter Park Health Foundation. \nAbout the Presenter:    \nChris Hicks relocated to Orlando from the Chicago area\, where she headed up a highly recognized high school theatre program and taught Honors and Advanced Placement English classes. Chris’ involvement with Central Florida Community Arts includes teaching the Narrators! class as well as creative writing and acting workshops throughout the community. In her spare time\, she enjoys costuming and performing with theaters\, most notably as Ethyl in “On Golden Pond” and Mae Peterson in “Bye Bye Birdie\,” where she was recognized by the Orlando Sentinel as one of Orlando Theatre’s Best of 2019 Performers. \nRegistration Note: \nPlease note: As of August 2023\, when you register via Eventbrite for community education programs at the Center for Health & Wellbeing\, you are now required to accept our Waiver and Release as part of the Eventbrite checkout process.
