SUMMARY:Tea Meditation
DESCRIPTION:Julie Ward\, a certified ACE health coach\, leads a tasting of herbal teas and accompanying meditations.\n\n\nTea\, with its centuries-old roots in Eastern medicine and cultural practices\, has long been considered a way to good health\, happiness\, and wisdom. Now\, modern western researchers are realizing tea’s role in managing mental and physical health – in addition to supporting lower stress and anxiety\, studies have even found that some teas may help with cancer\, heart disease\, and diabetes\, encourage weight loss\, and lower cholesterol. \nThis program focuses on learning to be in tune with what you feel in your body and following that intuition in the real world. You’ll taste a series of herbal teas designed to give you energy and relax the mind; then\, you’ll take a silent moment and get in touch with your body. During this hour\, program presenter Julie Ward\, a plant-based\, certified ACE health coach and international health speaker\, will lead you through a tasting of three different herbal teas and guide you to notice where the energy moves in your body. Attendees are encouraged to bring an open mind\, one ready to explore and connect with your body. \nIf you’ve attended Julie’s previous Tea Meditation programs\, she will be featuring different teas and lessons in this program\, so all are welcome! \n  \nIn this program\, you can expect to: \n\nUnderstand what herbs can give you energy\, without caffeine\nLearn to tune in to energy moving through your body\nLearn to notice the connection between what you take in and what you feel\n\nProgram notes: \n\nPlease bring a yoga mat if you’d like to relax and sit on the floor. Otherwise\, chairs will be provided.\nThose on certain blood thinners and gastro medicines should consult with their physician prior to sampling certain herbal teas. If this includes you\, you can still attend but please alert the program presenter prior to the start of the session that you will need to avoid certain teas due to these medications.\n\nThis program is presented by Julie Ward and hosted by the Winter Park Health Foundation. \nAbout the Program Presenter   \nJulie Ward invites audiences to approach health differently. SUMMARY:Women’s Empowerment Series
DESCRIPTION:Engage in low-intensity yoga practice\, meditation\, conversation\, and self-inquiry.\n\n\nA note about this program series: After registering for the first class in this two-part series\, attendees are expected to attend both sessions in order to gain the most out of this program — Tuesday\, October 11 and Tuesday\, October 25. If you cannot attend both sessions\, please allow someone else to register for this limited-capacity program. \nJoin the CHWB Women’s Empowerment Series to explore unhelpful cultural messages that serve as barriers to prioritizing your own wellbeing. Over the course of two sessions with Katie DeAscanis\, a Crosby Wellness Center yoga instructor and graduate student studying mental health counseling\, you will engage in low-intensity yoga practice\, meditation\, conversation\, and self-inquiry to help deconstruct unhelpful messages and create more authentic ways of being. No yoga experience is necessary. \nDuring this class\, you’ll explore a deeper understanding of self in the context of our various intersecting identities. Plus\, you’ll learn how meditation and breath-work techniques can be used as tools for self-regulation and wellbeing. \nParticipants will walk away from their time in this program with a community of supportive and encouraging women and a better understanding of how take care of themselves in a world that demands so much. \nProgram Notes: please bring your own yoga mat to both occurrences of this two-part series. \nThis program is presented by Katie DeAscanis and is hosted by the Winter Park Health Foundation in partnership with the Crosby Wellness Center. \nAbout Your Program Presenter \nKatie DeAscanis is a Crosby Wellness Center yoga instructor and graduate student studying mental health counseling. After a successful 10-year career in corporate sales and marketing\, she took the leap to follow her true passion — creating a space for people to explore themselves and grow in ways that will help them reach their goals. Katie has been teaching yoga since 2018 and she co-led the Crosby Wellness Center’s inaugural Women’s Empowerment Series earlier this year with great success.
