SUMMARY:IDEAS Hive: Water Quality + Quantity
DESCRIPTION:Join us in person for “IDEAS Hive: Water Quality + Quantity” on Wednesday\, September 7\, 2022 at 6:45 PM.\n\n\nFlorida is home to some of the most unique and biodiverse water bodies in North America. This does not go without its challenges. From issues in water quality to water quantity\, the St. Johns RIVERKEEPERS are working to combat the water crisis we are facing in Central Florida and beyond. Hear from Gabbie Milch as she discusses the Rulemaking Process in the world of water conservation\, covering pollutant monitoring\, water supply planning\, and the Free the Ocklawaha Campaign. Join IDEAS Hive in learning and brainstorming solutions on water issues in our community! \nSpecial Note: Learning\, engaging\, and finding solutions. The monthly IDEAS Hive meetings allow experts from several different topics to educate you on environmental issues before inviting you to produce your own local solutions. \n Cancelling Your Reservation: If you are unable to attend a program\, cancelling your reservation gives us an accurate count of how many to expect; for sold-out programs\, cancelling your reservation also allows someone on the waitlist to attend in your place. Cancelling can be done in two simple ways: by calling 407.644.2492 and selecting Option 1\, then Option 3 to speak to a representative or by using the online ticket cancellation option in your original confirmation email from Eventbrite. \nThis program is presented by Gabbie Milch and hosted by the Winter Park Health Foundation in collaboration with IDEAS For Us. \n About the Program Presenters \nGabbie Milch is the Middle Basin Manager at St. Johns RIVERKEEPER\, a 501(c)(3) organization dedicating to defending the St. Johns River and advocating for its protection. Gabbie’s focus in the St. Johns Middle Basin is to assist the community to engage and learn about the quality of the River from Orange County to Lake George. She believes that the St. Johns River should be safe for kayaking\, as well as swimmable and fishable. She wants to engage volunteers\, members\, and the community to participate in activities such as clean ups\, River-Friendly Landscapes projects and riparian habitat restorations\, riverfront hikes and other social learning activities. She was an UF IFAS Horticulture Agent / Master Gardener Coordinator\, Florida-Friendly Landscaping Agent. She worked in the past for the St. Johns River Water Management District as a Watershed Action Volunteer Coordinator (WAV) in the middle basin and is familiar with water quality and quantity issues of the St. Johns. She graduated from Rollins College with a BA in Environmental Studies and has completed MS work at UF in Agricultural Education and Communications program. \nAbout the Presenting Organization \nIDEAS For Us brings in experts on environmental topics and allows them to educate our audience\, equipping them with the knowledge they need to make innovative solutions to climate change. They then engage the audience in a conversation about how to solve these issues with localized action.
