Join horticulturalist Caroline Chomanics for “Weeds” & Florida Native Plants. Chomanics is the Program Director at Fleet Farming\, a non-profit program of IDEAS For Us. In this webinar\, she will teach Florida growers about Florida plant identification\, including common “weeds” or pioneer species\, Florida native plant identification and invasive plants. If you prefer to be left out of the program’s recording\, please leave your camera and microphone off for the duration of the program. \nAbout Your Program Presenter  \nCaroline Chomanics is a passionate horticulturalist in the Central Florida community having earned her degree in Landscape and Horticulture Technology from Valencia College and her bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies and Sustainable Urbanism from Rollins College. She developed her horticultural skills while living for four years at Nehrling Gardens\, a historic botanical garden in Gotha\, Florida. Since 2015\, Caroline has served as program manager to Fleet Farming\, an urban agriculture program that transforms lawns into farms. She also acts as chief administrative officer to IDEAS For Us\, which develops\, funds\, and scales environmental action projects in the focus areas of energy\, water\, food\, waste and ecology. When she is not farming\, she is honored to be the gardening teacher at Inspiring Minds Day School\, teaching children about the wonders of the natural world.

SUMMARY:Tea Meditation
DESCRIPTION:Join us in person for “Tea Meditation” on Tuesday\, August 16 at 1 PM.\n\n\nTea\, with its centuries-old roots in Eastern medicine and cultural practices\, has long been considered a way to good health\, happiness\, and wisdom. Now\, modern western researchers are realizing tea’s role in managing mental and physical health – in addition to supporting lower stress and anxiety\, studies have even found that some teas may help with cancer\, heart disease\, and diabetes\, encourage weight loss\, and lower cholesterol. \nThis program focuses on learning to be in tune with what you feel in your body and following that intuition in the real world. You’ll taste a series of herbal teas designed to give you energy and relax the mind; then\, you’ll take a silent moment and get in touch with your body. During this hour\, program presenter Julie Ward\, a plant-based\, certified ACE health coach and international health speaker\, will lead you through a tasting of three different herbal teas and guide you to notice where the energy moves in your body. Attendees are encouraged to bring an open mind\, one ready to explore and connect with your body. \nIn this program\, you can expect to:  \n\nUnderstand what herbs can give you energy\, without caffeine\nLearn to tune in to energy moving through your body\nLearn to notice the connection between what you take in and what you feel\n\nProgram notes:  \nPlease bring a yoga mat if you’d like to relax and sit on the floor. Otherwise\, chairs will be provided. \nThose on certain blood thinners and gastro medicines should consult with their physician prior to sampling certain herbal teas.
