SUMMARY:Short Story Writing (In Person)
DESCRIPTION:Join us in person for “Short Story Writing” on Thursday\, June 23 at 1 PM in the Community Conference Center.\n\n\nDo you have an itch to write but need encouragement? Or don’t know where your story begins? In this free\, in-person program\, Central Florida Community Arts Teaching Artist Chris Hicks will empower you to capture your imagination and put it down on paper. Using a series of writing and creative short story techniques\, Hicks will lead you on a journey of self-discovery. At the end of the class\, you’ll leave with new friendships and an original\, creative work of art (as time permits). \nBy participating in this program\, you can expect to: \n\nlearn the roadmap to creating a short story to utilize in future works.\ncreate your own original work during this session.\nconnect with other creative writers.\n\nSpecial Instructions: Participants are encouraged to bring paper and a writing utensil to this program. \nThis program is presented by Chris Hicks and hosted by the Winter Park Health Foundation in collaboration with CFCArts. \nCancelling Your Reservation: If you are unable to attend a program\, cancelling your reservation gives us an accurate count of how many to expect; for sold-out programs\, cancelling your reservation also allows someone on the waitlist to attend in your place. Canceling your reservation for this program is especially important as most of our arts and craft programs have limited capacities. Cancelling can be done in two easy ways: by calling 407.644.2492 and selecting Option 1\, then Option 3 to speak to a representative or by using the online ticket cancellation option in your original confirmation email from Eventbrite. \nBy participating in this program\, you agree to CHWB’s Gracious Space policy. \nAbout the Program Presenter \nChris Hicks relocated to Orlando from the Chicago area\, where she headed up a highly recognized high school theatre program and taught Honors and Advanced Placement English classes. Chris has a bachelor’s degree in Speech/ Theatre from Northern Illinois University and a Masters Degree in Teaching from National Louis University. Chris’ involvement with CFCArts includes teaching the Narrators! class as well as creative writing and acting workshops throughout the community. In her spare time\, she enjoys costuming and performing with theaters\, most notably as Ethyl in “On Golden Pond” and Mae Peterson in “Bye Bye Birdie\,” where she was recognized by the Orlando Sentinel as one of Orlando Theatre’s Best of 2019 Performers.
