Research proves that engaging in small acts of creativity in everyday life increases our overall wellbeing\, and The Center for Health & Wellbeing offers ways to do just that. Visit bit.ly/TheNewVitaminC to discover additional upcoming community education programs that serve your dose of Vitamin C. \nGenerations of athletes have used visualization to improve their performance and results. What if those same principles could help you manifest wellbeing in all areas of your life\, from relationships to career and hobbies to your physical and mental health? Vision boards are a wonderful way to start working toward your personal goals and dreams. Psychology Today points out that the act of creating a vision board helps us gain self-awareness and self-reflect on what is important to us – giving us a visual roadmap toward a positive future. So\, let’s get started! \nCentral Florida Community Arts Teaching Artist Chris Hicks will lead this session\, combining the power of words\, pictures and your imagination. Hicks will lead you on a journey of self-discovery as you choose pictures to embody your next steps on your wellbeing journey. At the end of the class\, you’ll leave with your personalized vision board\, setting you up for new opportunities and success in the year ahead. \nBy participating in this session\, you can expect to: \n\ncreate a tangible vision board to use in your home or office space.\nenjoy the process of reflecting on your goals and capturing them in a visual format.\nlearn the guided process of using prompts to assess the root word of elements that are most important to you.\n\nThis program is presented by CFCArts Teaching Artist Chris Hicks and hosted by the Winter Park Health Foundation in collaboration with CFCArts. \nA note regarding COVID-19 safety protocols: At this time\, all guests at the Center for Health & Wellbeing are required to wear masks in all indoor spaces\, including during our education programs. Presenters may remove their masks in order to be better heard by audience members. Attendees\, however\, must keep their masks fully in place (covering the nose and mouth) during the entire presentation. In accordance with CHWB guidelines\, our programs will also be limited in capacity and rooms set to account for social distancing. \nCancelling Your Reservation: If you are unable to attend a program\, cancelling your reservation gives us an accurate count of how many to expect; for sold-out programs\, cancelling your reservation also allows someone on the waitlist to attend in your place. Cancelling your reservation for this program is especially important as we are currently limiting capacities as part of our COVID-19 safety regulations. Cancelling can be done in two easy ways: by calling 407.644.2492 and selecting Option 1\, then Option 3 to speak to a representative or by using the online ticket cancellation option in your original confirmation email from Eventbrite. \nBy participating in this program\, you agree to CHWB’s Gracious Space policy. \nAbout the Program Presenter: \nChris Hicks relocated to Orlando from the Chicago area\, where she headed up a highly recognized high school theatre program and taught Honors and Advanced Placement English classes. Chris has a bachelor’s degree in Speech/ Theatre from Northern Illinois University and a Masters Degree in Teaching from National Louis University. Chris’ involvement with CFCArts includes teaching the Narrators! class as well as creative writing and acting workshops throughout the community. SUMMARY:Mindfulness and Meditation: Non-striving and Patience (In Person)
DESCRIPTION:Join us in person for Mindfulness and Meditation: Non-striving and Patience on Tuesday\, January 11 at 7 PM in Community Conference Room B.\n\n\nSpecial Note: Participants are encouraged to attend each week session of the four-week program\, but it is not a requirement. You may sign up for any of the four programs without attending the others. \nThis four-week program with Meditation Instructor Camille Sacco will introduce you to the concepts of mindfulness and meditation. You’ll learn practical tips and simple tools to transform your home and work life into the place it deserves to be. Each week\, you’ll learn a little something different about mindfulness and meditation. \nIn order to cultivate a true understanding and get the most out of your practice\, it’s important for your mind to be open and receptive. This will ensure that learning and change can occur. The attitude you bring to your practice is crucial. It is the soil in which we will effectively cultivate daily practices that will inspire confidence in the pursuit of living our lives with a higher purpose. \nDuring each session\, you will discuss two attitudes and how they relate to mindfulness. You’ll also practice a meditation each week and leave time at the end of the class for discussion and takeaways. Together\, this will constitute the foundation upon which you will be able to build a strong mindful meditation practice of your own. \nIn week one\, you will cover: \n\nAttitudes: Non-striving and Patience.\nMeditation: Awareness of Breath\n\n\nAttendees can sit in a chair or on the floor for this program. Participants are encouraged to bring a yoga mat\, towel or small blanket; chairs will be available for those who prefer to use one. The room can also be cool during this program\, so cold-sensitive participants may also want to bring a light jacket or sweater. All attendees are also encouraged to bring their own bottles of water. \n\nThis program is presented by Camille Sacco and hosted by the Winter Park Health Foundation. \nA note regarding COVID-19 safety protocols: At this time\, all guests at the Center for Health & Wellbeing are required to wear masks in all indoor spaces\, including during our education programs.
