- Free
Join us for Story of the Blues – Finding Your Voice Through A Historic Genre (Webinar) on Monday, November 30 at 1 PM.

There’s no other musical genre quite like the Blues. Its unique style is rooted in African culture and during historic periods of oppression and economic turmoil, this revolutionary genre provided a voice for the voiceless. It has even impacted the music we hear today.

Now you can find your own voice through this historic genre. Join CFCArts Teaching Artist Desiree Montes (Perez) for this exciting 90-minute workshop into the musical genre that inspired the lyrical storytelling style we enjoy in music today.

By participating in this program, you can expect to:

  • learn how to write your own 12-bar Blues song.
  • discover the rich history of the Blues genre.
  • learn about the Blues impact on all of the American music that has proceeded the genre.

This program is presented by Desiree Montes (Perez) and is hosted by the Winter Park Health Foundation in collaboration with Central Florida Community Arts.
